SFX Deep Purple and Sonic Green: Achieving a darker "shade?"

I want to dye my hair a deep teal color on one half and a deep purple on the other half. I want it to last long and from what i have gathered bleaching it makes it last longer, although from the pictures i've seen the colors end up being very bright/light. I am thinking of getting special effects deep purple and sonic green. My hair is a VERY dark brown & I've never died it before. Do you guys have any tips for achieving a darker version of the colors? I have read things like mixing black hair dye into the sonic green/deep purple, or dying your hair a lighter brown after bleaching and then dying it the deep purple (would it work the same for the sonic green?). I would really like to know if anyone has done something like this before, or just tips! Thanks!!

If you want a darker version of darker colours, like teal and purple, then just bleach your hair to a paler side of mid ginger. Less damaging as a great side effect, but the deeper colour of the hair helps deepen the colour of the dye.

It's not what I'd always suggest, especially for greens. But as you want a teal shade it should be fine. It might be worth looking for a bluer green though.

Do you think adding a bit of a blue sfx dye to the sonic green dye would make it bluer? I've heard tons of really great things about special effects so i was trying to use that brand, but if the blue/green mix wouldn't work i'd be totally okay with finding a bluer green from another brand.

Yep, that will work. The blue will help neutralise the orange so helping prevent the green from going too muddy. Green and orange make brown. So does blue, but in a much nicer way! The yellow in green would make a brown that was yellowish and insipid, adding the blue will keep it fresher looking. That brown will then have a deepening affect on the colour as a whole.

It all comes down to the colour wheel, just think about mixing paints πŸ™‚

You shouldn't need much blue at all with sonic green, when I used it before it came out almost entirely blue, hardly green at all.

Stand test the mixture though before you dye.

Ah fair enough. I've never used it, but looking at photos, they all looked very green on the screen I was using. πŸ™‚

That's alright, I wasn't arguing with you, just in my experience it has been a very blue leaning teal every time I have used it.

It might pull more green on other people or whatever though πŸ™‚

Yea, I was only basing my questions on the pictures online of sonic green. I think I'll have to do a strand test with just the green and then see if i need to add the blue. Thank you both for the advice!

Oh that's ok Martha! I didn't think you were arguing with me! πŸ˜€ a strand test is always a good idea anyway with a new dye on anything other than a white blonde base.
