Going back brown from purple

I've done it again , I've gone purple and now want to go back brown 🙈
Last did it about 2 weeks ago and it's a purple pink I used special effects deep purple . I would like to use a semi brown in it as find using hear dyes much easier than the box hair dyes from shops. Will any take to normal root hair? And if so what steps do I need to take next ? I don't really wan to use colour b4 as have hammered them oner the last year and had my hair bleached so the ends are very brittle as it is!
I would like to go as dark as say Michelle Keenan's hair colour that sort of brown (just off top my head )

Adore browns are nice and give great coverage without damage, but they don't stick to my roots at all and they fade even on the prelightened hair within 4 washes on me. I wouldn't recommend using a box dye if your hair is already fragile tho - I used a box semi permanent (Castings) over bleach and I could defo feel the damage.

Pop Adore Medium Brown over the top of that, I seem to remember its base is quite green so it'll neutralise the red tones in the purple for you leaving you with a lovely natural brown. No fading required. Adore Dark Chocolate is a warm, rather maroon-based dark brown, and Adore Darkest Brown is on the ash side of things but starts out nearly black.

Thanks for the replies, so for a brown that's not too dark is it best to go with the chocolate ? I have about a cm of natural roots will it take to this aswell as I have a hit of grey roots 😩

I've posted on the general hair chat board but should of put it in here
My hair is currently deep purple all over but lighter bottom half as previously bleached. Someone suggested adore chocolate brown all over? Will it take to roots ?

I've merged the topics. We're a small board, posting in different sections won't get different answers 🙂

Will it take to roots ?

Maybe, but it'll fade quickly.

Thanks , so what's my best option then ? I've had enough of messing with my hair ideally I want to go brown stay brown and I probably need to get about 3 inches cut off the length as its so bitty and dry 😔

If you pre soften the roots with peroxide before dying it would help. You need to roughen the cuticles a little.

No, my first choice would be Adore Medium Brown. I was just explaining the bases of some other Adore browns.

Ok thanks.
So my best plan would be to leave it a bit say maybe after Christmas let as much colour fade, put colour b4 on and then get a good chop tot he ends and then put adore medium brown all over . Does that sound like a good plan? As I presume adore will take to the roots if they've had colour b4 on them ? As I've read somewhere as don't want to be bleaching anymore !

No. ColourB4 is nothing like bleach, so it won't work.

There is no need to use ColourB4. The purple will be an OK base for the Adore Medium Brown. ColourB4 will very likely turn the purple an undesirable colour too. If you want to fade the purple a little bit more just use a regular shampoo.

Pre-soften roots with peroxide (I have no tips on what strength nor how long to leave it on for I'm afraid) OR dye your roots with a 28-wash demi in the colour of your choice. When the time comes to refresh the colour that hair will take a semi just fine. Another option of course if doing your roots with a permanent dye if a demi doesn't cover the greys to your satisfaction. Greys can be tricky as they have a cuticle that is packed much tighter than regular hair.

I wouldn't use Medium brown myself over purple, it is likely to be too blue with the purple and the green tones in the dye, and look greyish.
Deep Purple fades very pink (like neon pink) so i would fade it as much as possible first. You can use the bleach powder/shampoo/oils method if you are impatient, or just use strong shampoo and let it fade over time.
The way i recommend going back to natural from bright colours is to fade first, then neutralise with the opposite colour, which also acts a s a filler. Then your chosen natural colour over the top.
So when the Deep purple is faded to a pinky shade the medium Brown will neutralise it perfectly, but you will need a warmer brown over the top.

Thanks so use baby shampoo to fade it as much as possible then adore over that, but still leaves me with he roots problem? I really don't want to mess about with bleach , my hair is so wiry at the bottom were it was bleached blonde by a supposedly professional hairdresser which fried my hair I think!
Thanks for all the advice everyone 👍🏻

I would use dandruff or clarifying shampoo to fade it.
Adore won't stick to unprocessed hair so either try and match it to your natural colour or you will have to process them somehow.
No-one has suggested bleaching, either use straight peroxide (developer)to pre-soften (ie open the cuticle to allow the dye to penetrate) or use a box type demi dye
