Thank you so much @crowcrow π
Okay so I really liked it darker, but it just seemed so close to black I had to fade it some, so I did a shampoo + olive oil treatment under a cap for a half hour and it's already back to my profile pic mid grey. I'm going to do a couple/few more over the next couple days and go back pink I think. It's those stupid purple tones that are driving me nuts, it just makes it look uneven. If it was a nice, even grey I would be keeping it. The pink was just so much easier if that makes sense, and I feel so much more 'me' with it. I will never, ever, ever be using Atomic Pink EVER again though! Ever!
Give the grey a chance, live with it for a few days before you make any decisions. I always find drastic changes difficult, i need time to adjust.
That grey is beautiful! Even with the pinky/purply tones. Too bad you don't like it, but if you're not feeling like yourself even in a few days, I would go back too. I get insecure when my hair is bothering me and that's not a nice feeling.
Thanks you guys! The thing is I really, really love this color, someone referred to it as 'mink' and I love that! lol. But it really does make my eyes just look grey, like when I wear grey tops + my eyes are my favorite feature so I don't like that it's taking away from them. Idk I am going to give it a couple days I think, I may wait the weekend out and see how I feel about it on Monday. I haven't done any more fading so it's still back to looking like how it looks in this photo
If it helps at all I think your eyes look lovely with this colour. Your eyes always stand out to me though, I think they're amazing. But I get why you want to change it, I hate not liking my hair, it completely undermines my self confidence.
Aw, thank you so much Marthakins π I'm fading nit right now and it's at like a rosegold/moscato-beige/silvery kinda color lol. It is really hard to describe! lol. Hopefully this is good enough to put my Virgin Rose/Pravana Violet over, I'm going to test strand it first though definitely! I'll try to get a good picture of what this looks like now to add on here
... Nirvel Grey dye stronger on it, maybe 1 part conditioner to 2 parts dye, and here's the results from that:
I absolutely LOVE this! π
In fact, I loved your results so much, I tried a "spot", neat, of my Nirvel Grey on a test strand today in the hopes to low-light a bit, and it didn't darken as much as it did yours, in fact, it looked like it would have turned out a very light purple-violet if I used it all over. Good job for test strands!
So question, and sorry if you mentioned it already but I couldn't find the answer... how long did you leave the less diluted mixture on to get the really rich, deeper "mink" colour?
(mink - describes it perfectly) π
I think I left it on for about an hour and a half, maybe a little less, and of course it was on clarified, dry hair. I blow dried it before applying the dye so it was more dry + would soak up more color. I heated it up with a dryer too for maybe 15 minutes in the beginning. When I used it less diluted, like when I made a toner out of it it was probably 8 or 10 to 1 part dye, it looked like my hair was going to turn like a light plummy color, but it turned it the nice brownish toned grey, it didn't look plummy or purple at all, except over my pink.
I thought you would be interested in this @Alexia, I have done a few shampoo fading treatments and I did one bleach powder + shampoo + oils treatment and just blow dried it and now I have this:
You can really see how much of a brown base it has! Idk I'm actually liking this on me! The colors are literally she exact same shades I use for my eyeshadow everyday lol. I feel like parts of it match my skin color and my natural blush lol. Idk I may hang onto this for a bit!
Woah, hold that bus, yes!!!! This is LUSH don't u dare do anything to that!
I didn't expect this!
Katie a random one for you - when I first looked at that last pic I saw the pink strap on your shoulder as a pink end to your hair and thought - a pink dip dye right on the ends would look awesome. Just the bottom inch or so - not too far up. Just an idea that I thought I'd share. π
I totally wasn't expecting this either! I thought it would go more of a lighter, muddy greyish plummy color or something, I was really surprised with this! Thanks so much @Swilks <3 <3
@SoniaJM that is a cool idea, though if I were to do just the tips I would probably say F it and just do the whole thing LOL
I was also thinking of the benefits of only having the bottom inch bright pink - it's a reasonable amount to trim rather than the pain of the fade! Lol! π

Ah that is a wise thought! I will see how this fades - I was thinking about MAYBE, possibly, if I'm able to get the rest of this out, of going to a really pale turquoise before going pink, because I could easily just slap the pink over it and I love how cool pinks look over faded/pale turquoise...If I do that I may try doing just the tips pink before going full on pink. Thanks for the idea!!
Update 8.5.2014
I've been tinkering around trying to figure out what works and what doesn't to make this color. I had it pictured in my mind but went through some trial and error getting it just right. I faded out nearly all of the dye that was still in my hair, just from the sun and doing overnight oil soaks, so it was all pale yellow, white and still a little bit of Atomic Pink clinging on for dear life in the back underneath. I used about 3-4oz of Cure Care Hair and Skin Conditioner, a couple drops of Virgin Rose and a couple drops of Nirvel ArtX Nutre Color in Grey and I love it! Exactly what I've been trying to achieve!
