So picture 1 is my natural colour back in 2008, I'd never really done an awful lot colour wise but after spotting a couple of greys (!!!) I started colouring it dark brown. I decided to go blonde whilst working as a receptionist at a hairdressers whilst at uni. I figured I had professional help for free so why not! Ironically seen as I am now blonde, I didn't really like it for very long first time around, or maybe it was being able to get my hair coloured for free whenever I liked, but it didn't stay like this for long, around 6 months.
Stupidly on a whim I decided to dye my hair black, I think I wanted something dramatically different from the blonde. I soon tired of this and decided to give warmer colours a go. You can see the journey here, from stripping it to a dark, rich auburn up to a more vibrant orange auburn. I also dabbled with glued in extensions and kept it like this for quite a while.
The extensions became a faff, they take soooooooo long to dry and as I was now about to embark on my teaching career, I decided to take them out and have the chop.
I'm lucky to have gained quite a few hairdressing friends so I decided to go back to the lighter side. I built up the highlights until I was platinum blonde again. The school holidays came and I decided to go pink. By far my favourite colour so far but sadly only something I can do in the holidays.
Then my lovely boyfriend proposed and in a moment of madness I decided I should go back to my natural(ish) colour for the wedding (which isn't until next year!). I went way too dark and immediately regretted it!
WARNING - avert your eyes now as some serious icky bleaching issues are about to be admitted!
I decided I needed my blonde back, and I needed it asap without the in between stage. It is this journey that led me to this site as I was googling the coconut oil theory. I spent two weeks washing my hair with H&S, washing up liquid and using keratin masks (L'oreal Kerastase), the dark faded out quickly as I only did a semi over the blonde to pre-pigment. After a fortnight I had a very faded mahogany. I then used Colour B4, the stronger version. It worked brilliantly for me, in fact it left me a lot lighter than I expected. I was neon orange, almost yellow. I then bleached my hair using 9% (over coconut oil), and ended up with yellow-y but very blonde and even hair. I came on here for help with the toning and ended up using La Riche Violet mixed with conditioner, leaving me with the hair you see below in the first two pics.
Since then I have been using Shimmer Lights and this has taken me pretty white, which you can see in the pics with red lips. I'm definitely sticking with blonde for now, all though half term is in 2 weeks and I am going to give lilac/lavender a go as this will fade out easy enough!
you did well with the blonde, I think that sounds very sensible and your hair does look healthy! You make a lovely blonde π
Wow you suit every colour! π
Thank you both π
I do prefer the blonde, as does the future hubby so I think it is here to stay. It does me for term time at least! I am excited about trying lilac soon though, I'd love to try mint green too but will have to save that for Summer I think!
You really suit every colour so nicely, but I do agree that the blonde is stunning on you!
I'm also a fan of the blonde π
Lovely shades, especially the black and the blonde π
I absolutely love the blonde on you π
Thanks everyone π
I'm going to try Directions Silver on Saturday. Only ever used the white one but I fancy a more silvery effect. Fingers vrossed!
Blonde looks stunning on you, i also like the highlights and mahogany π
