Oh thank you! πŸ˜€ Yes, they're my hair accessories that I make πŸ˜€ been doing it for about 2 years. It's quite useful for getting pics of hair colour though, I'm not one for having lots of photos of me... it's so weird that kids these days have hundreds of photos of themselves, just because I've never been able to!

Those accessories are to die for! Sucks about Cambridge. You think they'd be better, what with it being a student town. Urgh.

And yeah, it's ok in other student towns, like i lived in leeds for a while and was fine there. but cambridge is so academic.

Yeah I found, even through just visiting, that Cambridge is really quite different to most student cities - even Oxford.

I love all the different colours on you, but particularly love that last bright pink!

It's a shame you had that experience in Cambridge, I go there quite a lot because that's where OH's family lives, and I can't say I've ever had issues with my hair colour when I've been there with various unnatural colours, but then again I'm fairly oblivious to people's reactions in general. That and I'm a rude French person so people don't usually dare to bother me and if they do, I don't hesitate to give them a piece of my mind.

The thing about Cambridge I think, wouldn't be the "locals" who look at you weird, who are mostly students/academics and a bunch of London commuters, but because it's a shopping city it attracts quite a varied crowd. I'm going to say something and I hope it doesn't come across as xenophobic but the huge Primark there is always full of "russian mail order bride" style women (not saying they're from Russia, just describing their clothing style) who can be quite snotty and do tend to look at me weird because of my septum piercing and general style. But hey at least I don't look like a tacky prostitute/escort.

Oh, this was before a huge primark! But it was locals that would be rude, or at least people from the local area. I'm talking women about the same age as me (early 30s at the time) and I knew they were local because I worked in a shop in town and saw some of them a lot. And I was in town everyday so I'd notice it more than most πŸ™‚ I'm pretty oblivious most of the time too, but in Cambridge at the time, it was awful. There was another girl that dressed in bright colours with bright red hair (and even though we dressed very differently really, we got called twins, kinda pissed me off) but as we know, bright red hair is more acceptable than blue.

The academic crowd, and I'm talking professors here, could actually be terrible to me too, which shocked me more than most. I got talked down to more than most in the shop I was in, traeted like a complete moron.

Oh well, on to nicer things πŸ˜€ The man in Boots always compliments my hair lol

Hey janineb hope you don't think I was defending Cambridge, I kinda hate it there really and I only go there because I have to and it's the best shopping town in my part of the East Midlands!
It just really sucks that you ended up having to dye your hair black :(. It sounds like quite an upsetting situation.

I am in love with your pink! Do you remember which pink it was? And the blues! And the curls! And the hair accessories! Hooooge hair envy *sigh*

I lived in Cambridge for about a year a couple of years ago and had a similar experience with rude and small-minded people. I started out with blues and purples but switched to red in the end.

Cambridge is horrible. People in the university weren't bad, and I think the academic side of the city is great, but the local population is just plain snobby and shallow in my opinion! Haha the resent is coming out, the point was not to bitch but to say don't take it personally!

Thank you πŸ˜€

I think if it hadn't been daily and several times a day, then it would have been fine. But just walking through the centre at lunch time would be torture and I guess the more it happens, the more you notice and it just becomes horrible.

Anyway, the pink was SFX Virgin Rose. But be warned, it's one of the ones that's a devil to get out.
