Post Count Drop (Significant Number)

Yes, the post count only registers live posts on the forum, so when we delete old posts it goes down 🙂

Does it also drop the number of times you've been thanked too? Or does that not change as it is something else?

No - the Thanks will remain even if the post is deleted.
The Thanks thing is actually a built-in 'give good karma' feature but I while back I adapted it to show thanks for help instead.  Have been working on a way for it to show who gave thanks and on which post but that is not working right so it on my ever-growing to do list lol.  One day..... 😀
