Wool dreads and fading

Here are the pictures of the dreads I made. It was a pain to install, decided to do it over a few days so that my scalp wouldn't be traumatised by the sudden weight. I only did 45 DEs, again, I was worried about the weight because of my sensitive scalp. I don't think it looked too bad, but it obviously wasn't a professional job or anything.

And an action shot while having a lovely mexican dinner:

I ended up removing them super quickly. I was on a lovely romantic holiday with my fiance in London and basically I think the pollution made my scalp 10 times itchier than it would have been normally. After just a day of sightseeing, I woke up the day after and I was sooo in pain, it was burning. I tried some tea tree oil diluted in water but it wasn't enough and I just had a breakdown and removed them. Oh well.

I've had a couple of washes with Lush's I love Juicy and my hair is now really faded. It's really pastel and lovely but the camera doesn't capture it super well. Here is a pic (excuse my busted face without make-up):

the dreads looked super cosy. i feel your pain with the itchys. i only lasted 13 days with mine(i did alot of scalp slapping in that time) are you gonna try then again?

i love the fade. i think i prefer it to the freshly applied dye =)

I'll definitely try again now I found out about another way to install because the blanket stitch braids were hell and my boyfriend has vowed to never help me again! Next time I'll try basically normal braids at the beginning and then just braiding the loose hair without the dread. As in this picture:

But now my hair is bright red so I'll have to wait a couple of months before I can install these again!

The method you described is basically what I did, the only time I've ever put in dreads. They worked well (except my hair was really short so they slipped and almost came out pretty quickly). But it was really easy to install them that way!
