Will the dye stick to my freshly bleached and conditioned hair?

Hi guys!

I had my hair dyed a natural red at my hairdresser's for about a year.
On May 1st I got it bleached professionally (lengths = twice with 30v; roots with big regrowth = once with 30v, maybe 40v). It stayed quite brassy and orangy, but then dyed it with Directions Lavender and it basically turned my hair salmon and a biiit purple at the tips. Didn't hate it, but not what I was expecting. The dye also practically came off on two washes, leaving my hair SUPER yellow and brassy, really barbie-ish.

So yesterday (May 12th) I gave it a bleach wash with blue powder and 20v developer and it is now a bit less brassy, still quite orangy. I bought Stargazer UV pink and Shocking Pink to mix and apply, as I have tried Stargazer UV pink on my normal dyed redhair and it turned out pretty nicely (bearing in mind I didn't bleach that time!).

The thing is, yesterday after washing the bleach, I applied a hell lot of conditioner to my hair and then a repair oil to the ends (and cut the tips that were more damaged) and although it is super soft and healthy looking (no frizz, no puffyness in the ends) I am afraid that if I apply the dye today or tomorrow, the dye won't stick, either because my cuticles are bust from the bleaches, or because of the products I've applied when I washed it.

So, can someone tell me what will probably happen? Should I just wash the hair with clarifying shampoo (that's like.. dandruff shampoo right?  :-X ) or what? Any tips on how to get it to stick?

I can attach some pictures of how my hair was before and after the bleach wash, if it does any good.
I have a major event next Saturday morning, so I really want to dye my hair by tomorrow night, so that I can deal with any problems that my appear.

Thank you guys! πŸ˜€

Please don't bleach your hair again in such a short period of time. Your ends were bleached twice? On the same day? I would definitely not do that again. It's advised to wait at least a month between bleaching and evaluate the condition of your hair before you do. Your end will have been bleached 3 times in 12 days, that won't have done it any good.

As for dye, clarifying is a good idea. Conditioned hair isn't a good basis for direct dyes. If your hair feels bad after clarifying, you can still use the direct dye, it's basically a coloured conditioner anyway (I think it is anyway, correct me if I'm wrong). I think strong pinks will cover orange tones, maybe pull it more to salmon. Leave the dye on for as long as you can stand, it'll help with longetivity.

If it still washes out very quickly you can either try a different brand of dye (not every brand works for everyone the same way) or there's ways of washing the hair that's more dye friendly (co washing).

Wash with clarifying shampoo, no conditioner, directly before dyeing or the dye won't last very long. Clarifying shampoos take out any build up from styling products and don't deposit any. They are often marketed as 'deep cleansing'.
As Rij said, the dye will condition and you can use conditioner afterwards.

Rij, hi! Thanks! Yes, they were bleached twice. Surprisingly, the hair didn't get too damaged (at least not in a way that I could see) so I wasn't really worried about the bleach wash. I don't plan on bleaching any more soon, as the hair is still yellow but not orange, so it's more of a barbie blonde instead of a brassy copper. I'm using most of UV pink which is super duper bright pink and I hope will show actual pink instead of salmon.

Wicked Pixie, hello, and thanks! I will wash it and apply the dye with damp hair (as instructed in the box).

Thank you for taking your time to help a noob!  *hugs*

Just did what you guys told.
The pink is bright. I mean, geez! Clarifying shampoo + dye + 2 hours.

Thank you, this forum is a life saver. I feel awesome!
(sorry for the faces. I text people a lot of hair selfies!)
