Hey!

My local shop stocks directions- so thats what i've always used- but i'm thinking of branching out ao bit for fun and was wondering why Manic Panic and Special Effects are about twice the price?

Are they just way better?!

And are Crazy Colours worse?

Thanks! πŸ˜€

Maybe it has to do with amounts? Like you get less MP in a jar and more SFX in a bottle?

Or it might be because they  last twice as long as Directions ^_^

Don't really know.

The more expensive the dye the better staying power it has, cheap dyes like Crazy Colour and Stargazer dont last very long, Directions is kinda medium, MP is similar to Directions but you get a lot more in the tub, and SFX is the best longest lasting dye. This is based on feedback from other people, I havent used all the brands myself.

no, not at all. like sins said, it's bacause they're better quality than directions, CC or SG. but it's all down to personal preferance really

And personal hair type! CC pink lasted ages on me and wouldn't leave. Also Directions has a bad rep for not sticking but there's many of us here who are Directions Girls.

I was talking to a lady the other day who sells crazy colour, directions and stargazer dyes, but refuses to sell manic panic. I asked her why and apparently the makers sell it in bulk for about Β£2.50 a tub, but will not allow stockist to sell for any less the Β£10, so you will never find it under that price πŸ™ They have a nice range of colours and last longer but its nothing that you cant mix  and i dont want a long lasting colour as i get bored too easily πŸ™‚

Just to add that nobody has ever said which prices we should set for Manic Panic and I have not heard this from anyone else.  I do know that selling prices tend to be higher for these brands because the buying prices are higher than for Directions etc, but as others have said the longer the brand tends to last and the more in the bottle/tub the higher it tends to be priced.  Manic Panic (cream & amplified) and Special Effects both have 118ml whereas Directions only has 88ml.

Hope this helps
