White to dark brown

I've had a white pixie crop for just over a year now and with the constant root touch ups with bleach, my hair is certainly fried. I've been careful using coconut oil, j-pak treatments, avoiding silicones and regular trims but its time to give it a rest.

I want to dye my hair back to my natural chocolate-ish brown. How do I go about this? Do I need to give it a base colour before the brown? Can I use a permanent box dye? or would a semi (veggie) dye be better? I've only just bleached (for the last time) so I'm weeks away from any dyeing process but want to plan ahead and look after what I have before going dark.

Any advice or product suggestions I will be certainly grateful, thanks!  πŸ™‚

You should try one of the adore browns before going for any permanent dye if your hair is feeling fried.

I'd personally match your natural colour best you can to an Adore dye & not bother with a permenant at all, at least that way you avoid all damage to your hair completely then once the blondes grown out its all natural & healthy.

Definitely avoid permanent dyes if your hair is damaged. I would fill with a red semi first, then put your chosen brown over the top. Semi browns can fade strangely if applied straight over bleached hair.

Thanks for the replys, I thought I had read somewhere that dying brown with no base colour at all wouldn't work too well. I'm glad I asked first.  I'll take a look at the adore dyes.

Such a shame, I love the white but I get too slap dash with the bleach and always get overlap when doing the roots. Ah well new look for the winter.  πŸ™‚

That's why wicked pixie mentions the red. That is the base you need or it's likely to fade green.
