Which shade of Manic Panic (pinks) and how many pots?

Hi everyone!
So I'm thinking dying my hair, and my clip in extensions, a nice shade of pink. I want it either vibrant, bright pink like maybe Pretty Flamingo, or slightly more of a lighter shade (I'm not sure yet) like Cotton Candy Pink. I've heard Cotton Candy Pink isn't great at staying and lasting. Any advice? I may do Cotton Candy Pink first to see what I think and if I want a more vibrant pink I may go for Pretty Flamingo.

Also, my hair is skimming my shoulders, and is thick in some areas, thin in others. I also will dye my extensions to match on the days I fancy wearing them. Does anyone know if I'd need any more than 2 pots? I can't remember the last time I used MP so I don't remember how well the dye covered my hair.

Help! xo

I have no experience with pink dyes, but I think I've seen someone use a slightly diluted SFX Atomic Pink to achieve a shade similar to Cotton Candy Pink. Another thing I've read is that Atomic Pink really "sticks" to hair.

I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable about Atomic Pink can confirm or correct this. Until then you can check out the Atomic Pink gallery and see what you think about it.

Edited to add: I know this isn't about MP dyes, but I wanted to comment regarding dyes that last longer. As it is not the dyes you are interested in, it probably isn't too helpful, but it's something to consider if you decide to try something new. Good luck!

If you are able to order Atomic Pink you should! Just mix a little bit with white conditioner until it's the shade you want. I would get more than two jars no matter what brand you use because sometimes if the color comes out uneven you can go over it again to make it look nice.

If you have to use manic panic I would get a darker pink to mix with cotton candy pink. I've never used cotton candy straight so I'm not sure about how it would turn out, but it's pretty light and it might not look how you expect.

It's really worth it to get Atomic pink because a couple bottle will last a long time. I put a little squirt in a giant bowl of white conditioner and get a bright/saturated but not too dark pink. Maybe using 1/8 or sometimes a lot less of the bottle. If you use cotton candy pink from manic panic you will need probably 2-3 bottles to cover your hair.

Thanks ladies! I'll look into Atomic Pink! I have heard the conditioner idea is a good one so i'll give it a go, hopefully it'll stay a lot longer. xo

Out of the options you gave, i would go for pretty flamingo. I found cotton candy very light and you can always dilute pretty flamingo to make the dye go further.
As for the number of pots, i use 2 full pots for my collar bone length hair as it is quite thick. So that should give you an idea.

babysefic88, is it diluted Atomic Pink that you have on your hair in your profile picture?

I'm not sure how I didn't see this until now.. sorry about that!

Yes I use Atomic Pink. My hair fades that color now because I've used Atomic Pink so many times. There is also a little photoshop brightening/contrast of the picture. None of my hair is that white color.

In the past I have added a tiny itsy bitsy dab of orange, blue, or adore pink rose to experiment so sometimes it will fade a little different.

I added pics of after dying and the fade straight from camera, no editing.
