OK guys, so my SPFX Fishbowl has faded to a, errrr, baby poop green and its time to do something or other with it.
What I REALLY want to do is use Decolour remover on it to get rid of the rest of the green dye (and the permanent dye wash off which stained my white ombre and put me in a pickle in the first place.) I did a small strand test and it worked a CHARM but you guys have warned me that this would be a bad idea as my hair is damaged so I really should listen and not do that, right! *whip* I don't know if that option may become more viable after a month of babying my hair? I've started co washing, hot oil treatments with honey and egg yolk, KPak, Elasticiser...the works. I am lucky as my work actually calls for me having cool and wild hair colours BUT poop green is neither cool or wild so I need to get this looking decent!
Now I'm wondering, could I put a lightish violet ombre over this and hope for a slow fade to silvery lilacy as the other dyes wash out or do violet direct dyes always fade to green? The colour wheel blows my mind sometimes! Or would a pink take me more in the direction of a silvery lilac with fading? If so, a hot or cool pink considering there is quite a lot of yellow and green in my hair. I'm sure I remember someone on the forum putting something over a faded minty green, maybe a hot pink or violet, and winding up with nice silvery lilac.
Sorry for the state of it in the pic, its oily and looks darker than it is. The pic of it wet shows whats under the current poop green. My ultimate aim is to have an even, clean colour with no muddiness. I love pastels but know that just won't be a goer unless I get some Decolour remover on it and THAT my friends, is a no no right now, I know 🙁
Bleach is a bad idea, but decolour remover is fine. Just use a good conditioner after as it is drying.

Thanks Janine! *cheers*
And now we've here, the Decolour remover smashed out the green direct dye and the staining from the permanent without bothering the condition at all. I'm extremely impressed with the stuff. Think I'm going to do one more treatment with it to strip out a little more colour in the middle panel and then get back in there with the fun colour. Is there a limit to how frequently Decolour can be used? I know it doesn't pull out any more colour beyond three uses but if there is colour still to be stripped out can I go again the next day or is resting required?

Well, it's not really true it won't pull out any more colour after three uses. I think, though not sure, the main reason it's supposed to be used no more than three times is because use it 3 times in a row and you'll likely get at least a bit sick from the fumes, if not worse!
So, as my last part suggests, you can use it right after. As it's not damaging generally, it's fine. Again, just make sure you use a really could conditioner when you're finished. It's not really what I'd want to do though as I'd prefer to use a conditioner after the first one. If you do it again right after, you would have to skip that.
Yes its a stinker isn't it Janine. However, nothing as bad compared to some of the reviews on Boots and an absolute minor downside considering the fantastic results. This literally sucked all the colour out my hair in one treatment which was so much less unkind that the baking soda/vit C and, needless to say, bleach.
Not sure where I'll go colour-wise after this. I'm really feeling dusky/silvery lilacs again (especially since I just did my partner's bleached hair smokey lilac and it looks utterly, utterly incredible on him, I'm sick with jealously!) but have a lot of yellow and green/grey tones in the mid panel. The fishbowl looked awesome in the ends but muddy in that blasted middle panel. Don't know what to attack it with next? I guess a dilute pink would be a safe bet to tone the green (and I don't mind peach tones.) Silver going into cool lilac is REALLY calling me but don't know if it would work? Stand testing an Arctic Fox purple rain diluted with Arctic mist right now as you don't know if you don't try. Purple Rain is quite warm toned so we'll see. Don't know if I'll just end up with more poopy mud
I'm getting closer and closer to biting the bullet, stripping out all the bloomin' colour, chopping off as many inches of the damage as I can stand and going for an all over bleach but I am someone who just doesn't suit anything around my face other than my natural brunette so I fear that move! Still, it would be nice not having to fuss over millions and billions of tones and colours tumbling around in my locks like some sort of crazy hair rave!
I actually quite like the smell of colour removers lol my boyfriend loathes it though, so I have to restrict use!
The mid panel mud is why I was suggesting using a less dilute dye on the mid lengths. It's easy to blend in, you just use your fingers and smudge it.
Pink would be a cooler tone on a grey green base, so you wouldn't get a peachy pink. I think it's a good bet though. Just a less dilute version of the same colour on the mid lengths. Mud will always be a problem there if you have a proper ombre.
You wouldn't get a pale silver on the mid sections, it would have to be more on the gun metal side. You have to remember it's always going to have to be darker on the mid lengths. It's not a hassle once you get used to it.
Most people who say they don't suit a colour just aren't used to it/can't get used to it.
You like it!? Ahaha! Well I like the smell of horse poo so I don't judge! ;D
I currently look like a strange tropical bird having done tiny strand tests with just about every colour I own. Feeling a bit bummed out over it all, nothing is playing ball but it is teaching me A LOT about the undertones in my hair and I've also noted that my hair grabs colour like mad when its dry (have always done it from damp previously-interesting.) Bottom line is I have sooooo many tones in my hair I think it always going to be a bit of a mission unless I go wild with the colour stripping and chop off the damaged length and bleach as evenly as possible then basically follow the same steps I did on my other half to create his oh-so-glorious dusky lilac I just can't stop wishing was on my head! Just don't know if I'd suit an all over job- scary!
I'm just not sure how to proceed BUT on the plus side it like having my very own tropical fish tank on my head, if you look closely you see little flashes of colour here and there  Gosh, if you don't laugh you cry right?
 I quite like the sound of your current tropical fish tank look - call it 'opal' and tell people you did it on purpose!

Haha!! All gone with Decolour remover now my friend, colours on me seem to last as long as a name written in wet sand by the tide! ;D
