I was wondering how much i could get away with diluting rose red but still aiming for the full effect of the colour;
I used a pot of rose red which was already diluted 2:1 which i then added a whole pot of conditioner to, then i added 1/8th of a pot of pillar box red i had left over and still achieved as successful colour as i have other times when using rose red pure, 1:1 & 2:1.
So does that mean the rose red was 6 parts conditioner to 1 part colour? (plus the 1/8th of a pot of pillar box red)
I am interested about how much other people have pushed diluting dyes to avoid bleed/rub off or indeed just to make the dyes go further?
I get the feeling RR is one of the most heavily pigmented and therefore you can get away with it.
I'm sorry, my brain has melted...

Can you do a strand test? It's probably the only way to really see. Other things like porosity, base colour and hair health will probably affect people's results so a comparison with others might not be as useful as all that.
I have already used that mixture and it came out as vibrant as other less diluted applications.
I was just interested in how far other people have tried to push it out of curiosity more then a comparison.
I have also diluted Rose Red a LOT and still had really vibrant results. I have a pot of Virgin Rose now, and it is nowhere near as pigmented as Rose Red. The only other Directions dye that comes close IME is Plum, those are both extremely saturated dyes. I can make a pastel dye with about half a teaspoon of those dyes, and I have a lot of hair
I've diluted rose red a serious amount and still got great results. I originally diluted it 1:1 with conditioner, and had about half a tub of the mix left I then just topped the tub I already had with conditioner another 3 Times when I dyed my hair and it still looked good.
