What is a sheer hair dye?

I have some hair dye that says "sheer/translucide". I have always used ones that say "full". This is what I have on hand from previous purchase, but I think I accidentally bought it and I'm afraid to use it, I'm trying to get my hair just a tad darker and get an even color.
What is "sheer" used for? I'm just confused, maybe I can still use it to get what I want but I'm just not sure of it's purpose/use.
I thank you!

can't totally help- I don't think it really does much though! I believe i've chatted to someone about it before and they said it just made their hair very shiney!!

Could be a slightly different thing though, i'm pretty sure it was sheer.

Good luck either way!! I don't think I will hurt much. Is it clear?

Actually, it does come out as a color from the tube! Well honestly, what I have all seem to be a beige color at first, I haven't tried to use it at the moment though. Funny thing is I swear I've used it in the past, not knowing what the difference was...
When I was at the salon (who actually put me in the position to need to fix it) I remember my head being in the sink and them saying "oh wait this is not leaving much color... it's just making your hair really shiny." so yeah maybe that's what it is for! Shiny is good... but I don't know how is best to use it, I don't think I can return this as I've had it for quite a while.
Thanks for the help!
