Wella Koleston, please help to find the colour

Hi,
I have decided to colour my hair at home with my husbands help lol
After some research I’m thinking of wella koleston plus olaplex 1&2.
My hair is really thin and breaking easily.
I’m not fussy about the colur, my only desire is that I would like it to be rather a blonde lol. I It can be a darker blonde than on the pictures. Maybe it would be easier to achieve? Plus I won’t to have any colour difference between the roots and the rest.
When I coloured analysed myself it looks like I’m a soft summer.
My last visit at hairdresser was 3 months ago, I have full head of highlights ( unfortunately don’t remember the colour exactly).
From what I understand I have to put 2 different colours, one on roots and the other on the rest of the hair. Unfortunately don’t know which colours to choose.
I know all this description is not professional at all, but maybe someone could help?
Thanks

I'm afraid I'm going to say one thing.

"My hair is really thin and breaking easily."

Don't even think about using any colour with peroxide on the lengths of your hair, even with olaplex. Olaplex is useful, but it's not a miracle worker. They say themselves, if you wouldn't do it without olaplex, don't do it with olaplex either. You will end up with serious breakage.

I would suggest to dye only the roots with an oxidative dye, but I honestly don't know what to suggest. As you've had highlights it's not likely to blend well. Someone else might be able to suggest an option. Natural colours aren't my forte 🙂

As for the lengths, the only thing you can really do is tone what you have. You won't be able to get it lighter.

Thank you so much for your reply.
As I said I’m not fussy about the colour, def don’t want to have the lighter one. I’m not sure about toner, as I wash my hair every day/other day due to the gym workouts.
I thought the darkest I could go it would be up to light brown or similar.
Do you think colour on the picture would be safe and possible to achieve on my hair?
Thanks

It will be safe, but ONLY if you use a non-oxidative dye. So, nothing that is labelled permanent or has two bottle you have to mix together.

For the toning, it's really easy to keep it up. Just add some blue or purple dye to the conditioner you use when you shower after your workout and at home and use that each time. Once a week put it on and use it as a hair mask for half an hour and it'll properly top up the colour.

You can actually do the same for brown though. Add some brown dye you decide on to your conditioner and use it in the same way I suggested for the toner to top up the colour and keep it from fading. It actually works a lot better this way and stays looking nicer than a permanent dye. Adore have some great browns you can mix to get your perfect shade https://www.beeunique.co.uk/hair-dye/adore Honey brown looks close, I'd just add a really tiny bit of a purple based blue, like Indigo blue, just to knock back the warmth a tiny bit.

It's really worth this extra effort, not that it's really much extra, unless you're happy to cut your hair off. I don't want to sound alarmist, but it really is the most likely outcome if you use anymore peroxide on your hair. As you said, it's already breaking, that's only going to get worse.

Thank you for your reply.
The reason I’m looking for changing the way of my hair colouring is that my hair became really thin, lifeless, breaking really easily. With my current hairdresser, I have been for 18 months, I put much trust in him, I was paying for olaplex treatment as well, so each visit cost £120. I bought all the products recommended by H. and using currently Matrix range ( shampoo, mask, conditioner for over processed hair). Don’t get me wrong, my hair was never WOW for me, but the condition they are in now, just want to make me cry.
I’m desperately looking for the way just not to make it worse.

From your reply I understood the semi permanent colours won’t do any further damage to my hair. Is that correct?
Also, apart from the semi brand you mentioned, have you got any others in mind, you could recommend or are they all just the same quality?

So, if I understood everything correctly (please be patient, as I would like to do everything right):

1. I need to colour my hair with a semi permanent product.
2. I have to add some dye to my conditioner every time I wash - ho much of dye should I add?
3. Once a week, I have to leave it for half an hr ( conditioner with some dye).

Also you mentioned “I'd just add a really tiny bit of a purple based blue, like Indigo blue, just to knock back the warmth a tiny bit”. Should I do it with the step 1?

Can you please recommend a purple based blue as well ?

Thank you 🙏

As long as it's a true semi and doesn't contain any peroxide then it'll do no damage at all. They're actually called direct dyes, the easiest way to think of them is conditioner with colour in them that sticks to the outside of your hair.

Most are pretty good, but to be honest I can't recommend others for natural colours, they're mostly fashion colours. It's REALLY worth getting your hands on these dyes though. Online can be the best way. Beeunique is a great source.

1. Yes, it's absolutely the best way. If you want to do your roots as well, you'll need to use a permanent dye there, but be very careful not to overlap. Then use the direct/semi dye all over the roots and the lengths. This will hopefully blend the join. It's very tricky though due to your highlights, it will change the look between the roots and lengths, so I can't promise it'll be perfect.

2. It's really a case of experimenting. Start off with a few teaspoons in the bottle and mix well. Add more if you think you're getting a lot of fading still.

3. It's optional, but it would really help a lot with making sure it stays looking fresh and not a weird faded shade.

Also you mentioned “I'd just add a really tiny bit of a purple based blue, like Indigo blue, just to knock back the warmth a tiny bit”. Should I do it with the step 1?

Yes, mix it into the dye from the first step to mix the colour you want. It'll last you for ages if you store it well because you only need a pin prick amount most likely. Start REALLY small and work up.

I'm generally pretty patient 🙂 I only get a little testy when people start repeating the same mistakes over and over, never learn but yet keep telling us they want bum length hair that's bright white or bright red and we're wrong, they're right. It usually ends up in a post in what to do with their hair that's breaking off in huge sections and it could have all been avoided. It's sometimes frustrating lol
