Hello, recently my natural auburn colour has been fading and is now almost brown in most lights. I would like to bring the bright orange punch back into my hair, but of the normal boxes of dye I see in most UK shops, their reddest red is still very tame, and not that much brighter than my current hair colour.
Would an almost neon orange semi-permanent dye, such as Manic Panic, bring about a natural ginger colour when used on dark auburn/mousy-brown hair?
(My hair will have some permanent hair dye leftover from when I tried to dye my hair with some Superdrug red hair dye, but it made no difference as the colour was the same brightness as my own.)
Is it ever OK to use something like manic panic on natural hair colours, because they are meant for bleached hair?
Thank you!
I used to use semi orange dye for the same purpose as that. You won't get an orange as bright as the one on the right as you would need a paler base than brown, but you can make it much brighter and more ginger using an orange semi dye.
I'd reccomend using adore or special effects colours as I've found them to last much longer than manic panic.
I agree with Marthakins, I sometimes use a Special Effects red over my dyed brown hair and it gives it a nice glow.
