Using Adore while pregnant

Does anyone know if Adore is safe to use in pregnancy?

I've tried Googling the ingredients - some are coming up as toxic, but it's hard to tell how reliable the websites are that say so, and in what quantities the ingredients become toxic.

I'm also a little concerned that these kind of dyes tend to stick to the scalp more than permanent dyes and sometimes stay on the sides of my scalp for a couple of days after I've rinsed off the dye - I'm wondering if this means unsafe amounts of dye will be absorbed into my bloodstream.

Any information/advice you can can give me will be much appreciated.

I think adore should be safe to use while pregnant, I know that some members of the forum have used various different semi dyes while pregnant. Hopefully one of them can give you more detailed advice πŸ™‚

It's highly unlikely  it will get into your bloodstream.

Most dyes, even permanent and semi peroxide mixes, are safe, as long as the area you are applying is well ventilated and you do a skin test at least 48-72 hours before full application.

Skin tests are even more important whilst pregnant due to the heightened risk of an allergic reaction, even if you've used the dye pre-pregnancy.

Most of the dangers with pregnancy are more to do with toxic fumes rather than any other kind toxicity I believe. But they're dangerous at any time! Adore don't have those fumes.

As Swiks says, make sure to do any allergy tests before using (which we should all be doing anyway...) to make sure.

yep!  im pregnant and use veggies.  open a window if you want, but most of these dont even have strong scents to them.  its honestly more important to stay away from peroxide if you dont have ventillation, but even that is ok in moderation (and it is safest during the second trimester).  you're not going to absorb that much of anything through your scalp.

Thanks all for your advice and reassurance - I feel much better now and I'm glad I won't have to revert back to my horrible natural hair colour.

It hadn't occurred to me that I should do an allergy test as I've used Adore so many times, so thanks for suggesting it.

I think most people, and I often do this myself, assume if we have used a product before with no reaction then it's safe to use again.  However we should always do a sensitivity/allergy test with any cosmetic/beauty product as even a small change in the ingredients or batch variances can cause a problem.  Thankfully these are very rare in semi perm dyes, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
