uneven results using Directions and conditioner as toner

Hi all, just wanted to share my experience making a DIY toner on yellow blonde hair with directions and conditioner. I mixed a little directions LILAC in with some white conditioner until a pale lavender shade, then left on for really about 3 minutes max. While parts of the hair were a nice bright white the Lilac really infused into parts of the hair that were probably most porous (overlapped dye/ bleach etc).

Do you think a real toner (wella, l'oreal dialight) gives a more even result?

The problem with using those types of toner is that they will make your hair more porous, meaning faster fading and less even applications in the future. You should be able to fade your direct dye toner with dandruff or clarifying shampoo.
