Hi everyone,

I am new here and need some help! :p I've been reading tons of advice on going from a dark color to blonde for dying hair bright colors. Last night I bleached the underneath and bangs of my orange-y, already lightened hair on top of coconut oil (kept coconut oil on for 2 hrs prior). It came out just a lighter gold?. Will Manic Panic's hot hot pink show up well on this hair, or will it turn a funky color? I am okay with it not being as bright as it would be on very light hair, I just don't want it to turn a weird color. Can someone help me? πŸ™‚ I'm not sure what to do.

This is my hair after bleaching

Looks kinda gross since I skipped my out on doing my roots.

Should be fine on that colour as it's a mid tone bright pink. It will come out darker and a little less purple. Any orange-ish patches though, which it looks like there is though I'm not sure, will come out darker again but they should be covered. It should make a nice multi-tonal darkish pink πŸ™‚

Though I didn't think hot hot pink had much purple anyway? Not sure though, not used it as I don't like manic panic much πŸ™‚

Ah that's what I was hoping! πŸ™‚ I've been trying to understand opposite colors, so I didn't want anything to turn all funky! And you know what, I think you're right... I was going by the color in the jar as opposed to what It looks like in pics in the gallery. Either way I am just glad that the color would show up. I am going to try out manic panic because it is what's easily available to me at the store, but I am definitely going to be purchasing some SFX in the future. I've heard nothing but good about it!

I think it'll come out fab, and pretty bright!
SFX is great, I think you might like the colour I use - Virgin Rose. It starts off pink - purple and fades off to a bright pink. SFX is really forgiving on uneven bases too

Swilks,
Great!!! I can't wait to get home and dye it now! I will post update pics of it later.
Virgin Rose sounds beautiful! I originally wanted to use Deep purple because I heard it starts really dark then fades to a pinky-purple, or at least on some reviews I've read.

Directions Rose Red does the same as what Swilks says, starts off pinky purple then fades to bright pink. On a darker base like yours, it'd probably start of a deep velvety purple-pink then fade to bright pink- thats how it came out for me when i had a golden base anyway.

Good luck- can't wait to see it!

Rose red has no red in it at all. It's a deep magenta that fades bright pink.

Rose Red is a lot like Virgin Rose, but more pigmented. It is potent stuff lol

@swilks yes it is, its not red at all (i often wonder why its is in the red section on the website) & as Marthakins and Wicked Pixie say its very highly pigmented.

Since it's so pigmented, does that mean it lasts longer?

Also, I am doing my hair now tonight since I ended up visiting my sick grandmother last night. Hopefully I can find good lighting in my house to take accurate pictures πŸ™‚

I think so.

I have diluted it with conditioner 6:1 and still got a comparable vibrance.

Make sure you put vaseline all over any part of your skin which might come into contact with the dye!!

& when you rinse do it with your head over the bath rather than down your back as you'll get a mega stained back!!
