too old for alternative hair colours?

I'm 39 with two kids - aged 11 and nearly 8 - I only got dreadlocks about 4 years ago and extended them 2 years ago and dyed them pink about 1 year ago. Since doing all that I'm much more comfortable with myself. Before that someone actually said that my style was "mumsy" but that it was "ok" coz I actually was a mum. I was more offended by that than any comment I've ever had as a pink dread head! My kids love my hair and even when people make comments at school they don't worry about it. My kids both love me for the weirdness that I display. ;D

I'm sure your children will be exactly the same.

I'm 44 with three kids (4.5, 2.5 and newborn) and my sons were VERY upset when I dyed my hair black last week...their consensus is that pink is best, followed closely by "when it is the color of a cloud", ie. silvery gray.

I'm going to be 36 next month and I have four kids. My older ones love it....they think it's cool!

I just started using bright colors after swearing off chemical dyes. I'm trying to instill a love of all things natural to my kids. My hair was so unhealthy, I had to chop it to a pixie to have all virgin hair again, and these colors work fantastic on my light brown/grey virgin hair.

My ultimate goal is to have my tail bone length hair that I had when I was pregnant with my first, but healthy and purple!

It doesn't matter how old you are as long as you are confident about however you look!

Personally I am looking forward to being a mum so I can dye my hair and not worry about getting a job with it!

I'm 25 with a 2 year old daughter. Right now my hair is red passion by mp basically right now it's more pink than red. I get stared at all the time. I stopped caring what people think of me as a mother.

I'm craving to go atomic pink. I'm going to Florida for my first time in March. I kind of feel like I shouldn't be walking around with bright atomic pink hair so I'm dying it after my vacation.. so maybe deep down inside I do still hate being judged as a mother. People should just be more kind!  πŸ™

I know what you mean. I haven't been stared at (that I noticed anyway) but I do wonder if people are judging me. You know what though? Let them judge. They are the ones with the narrow evil minds! I've actually gotten a couple of compliments on my hair.

I've seen lots of women with funky colors here in Florida. I think if that's what you want to do, do it! Don't let people with with obvious issues stop you.

There's no such thing as being too old for alternative hair colours. Age is but a number. Be yourself, always. πŸ™‚

Besides, I would have thought that a child would think it was cool for a parent to have hair of an amusing colour lol...

I don't have any kids but I couldn't imagine myself without either bright hair or a funky haircut.  I don't think you should ever conform to an ideal.  My pink hair makes me who I am....Ok admittedly I did dye it a "normal" colour for a job interview but at the end of the day I got the job and the first thing I asked my boss was can I dye my hair back to pink!! My hair makes me stand out and I get loads of people asking where I get it done (I never tell them I do it myself) and even my mum has asked me to put some streaks of purple and pink in her hair!!  As I always say "its only hair, it can be cut and it will grow back"
