Hi to all you lovely ladies,

This is just a general question I am asking its not meant to be taken offensively.

If you have children do you think that theres a point where wearing your hair pink, blue, green etc is no longer appropriate?
I am asking as I have asked myself this question, am I at the age of 29 with a child under 1 trying to fit into a mould that will never fit?

What do you all think?

Michaela

in a word, NO! i think it's much better to be yourself, happy with who you are (if thats alt hair colour, then so be it) no matter your age, is FAR more important than sticking to society's 'mould'. i would much rather my mum was happy and comfortable with how she is and looks, therefore making her a better role model, than trying to be someone she's not

i agree with pippa 100% my mum opted to try and fit the mould! she therefore reverted into this shy person who wasnt happy, it wasnt until i forced her to go see a maiden concert when i was like 13 that she started to be 'herself' again... still havnt quite convinced her to go properly bright (i got a few big red streaks in her hair for a while) but shes a much happier person now!

My daughter is 23 and I'm 47. I have pimpin purple and blue velvet hair with am atomic pink shaved section with animal print - and I don't feel too old for it.  I've been dying my hair bright colours since I was 14 and I don't intend to stop.  Your hair is part of who you are.

".fitting in is just boring so go on and do what you want even if it means being the "rainbow"sheep of the herd !!!!!! x

rainbow sheep of the heard....i like it. no one wants to be 'normal' and i find the more straight laced the person, the more they love my hair!

I like that too rainbow sheep. Made me smile. I suppose I am just feeling a little down on myself. I will try to go with the flow.

I dont want to have my daughter growing up feeling self conscious because I was. Thanks everyone. Its funny how something happening in your life can make you doubt yourself so much.

If your happy having your hair bright colours then why not after all you only live once, and its your hair, stuff what other people say. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nope ๐Ÿ™‚ At work older customers who comment on my hair saying it's lovely and wished they could've done that when they were younger I just reply they can do it now.

I'm 29 with 2 daughters, 4 & 6, who love my bright pink hair.
I had similar wobbles when my first was born, thinking I should be more 'normal' for my daughter. Took my lip piercing out, tried to be normal & fit in with others opinions. It wasn't me and made me miserable.
I'm being myself again (lip piercing & all) and am much much happier for it.
If my 'image' ever affected my girls lives I might think again, but at the mo, they don't care & their friends think they've got a cool Mum ๐Ÿ˜€

I dont think your ever to old to have alt. hair color, im 38 alright no kids, and at the mo going through the orange bleach stages, then onto a bright red. You know what if i like it, that's all that matters.. Be who you are, not someone that society wants you to be.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, I'm 29 too and planning to have babies soon but I definitely wont be conforming with the "mum" image.  I love my bright hair and I think it is important to be yourself and be happy.  Its a fantastic example to set for your children to be confident enough to know your own style.  Stay bright and shine!
