For the past year and a half or so I've had bleach blonde hair. I'm naturally blonde so once bleaching it I never really had the need to tone it (it was never brassy or anything). Just recently I dyed over it with a mix of Arctic Fox's Aquamarine and Arctic Mist, and it was fine for the first few days, but now the yellow-ish tint from my blonde is coming through and making it a mint-green shade (which is still pretty so I'm not TOO upset). I was wondering if I could just use a toner or maybe a purple shampoo to get the yellow out or if that would mess with the dye color too. I'm kind of on a budget so any product suggestions would be appreciated too! I'd rather not spend a ridiculous amount of money on products that don't work! *thx*
You can make a toner by diluting some dye in conditioner. Using purple will pull the colour back towards blue, hard to advise on colour without pics though
Ooo I can give that a try. I can't really take pictures of it at the moment, but it's super faded now (I've had people look at it and say they didn't even notice the color at first) with just a tiny hint of a sea-foam/mint green. I didn't notice it faded this much until just now lol. Taking that into consideration I will most definitely dye it again the same color, maybe just not so diluted, but I do want to get the yellow out before I do just so it doesn't do this again.
Turquoise shades will always fade greenish, even on a perfect base. Adding a drop of magenta to your mix will keep it more blue than green.
