Tint bowls

Is tint bowl always supposed to be a plastic bowl or could you use a normal ceramic cereal bowl (if only use it as your dye bowl). I'd also like to know why metallic bowls are not allowed, or is it just when doing bleach? At the moment I don't yet have a tint bowl and I've used some wide washed yogurt cups as a replacement, it's like recycling  :D.

Metallic bowls are not supposed to be used with bleach as the metal will oxidise upon prolonged contact, I use a variety of things from old chinese takeaway tubs to glass bowls or jugs. Ceramic is fine and I like the yoghurt cups idea too. πŸ™‚

I use an old margarine tub, so if theres any dye left I can snap on the lid and keep for touch ups later πŸ™‚

I get given those shower jellies from lush all the time, they're pots are great for popping dye in and storing it.

I have actual tint bowls, but I've been using the pots that the cheapy Boots coconut hair mask comes in to store mixes.

I really like the idea of having some tint bowl that you can close after using. I'm buying some hair mask soon anyway so now I have something to do with the bowl after it's empty. It'll also look a bit prettier than having a pink yogurt cup in shelf (mirror cabinet it kind of full). You all have such great ideas.

edit. What size are those normal tint bowls that they sell in Beeunique for example? How many ml?

I don't know how many ml, exactly, but the one I have is the size of a normal tint bowl ... about the size of a regular cereal bowl (not a massive soup bowl).  It holds ... oh, maybe about a pot and a half of directions?

I use a tint bowl myself and the ones on Beeunique easily hold a bottle of sfx for example, however some of the ideas on here for using and storing the dye are great - especially the snap shut tubs.

I'd really love to get the Tigi Peppermint Hair Mask bowl to use as a tint bowl. It would be so pretty, but I've heard that the product itself doesn't do much for your hair so I would waste my money just to get a pretty bowl :/

I found better looking real tint bowl from Amazon and I'm super happy and can't wait to get it soon πŸ™‚
