I've read through this entire thread... and if it was mentioned, I didn't see it. Can anyone tell me what the base is on SFX Devilish and SFX Blood Red? I'm going to wager that one is pink and one is orange, but I'm having trouble telling which from the gallery photos. Thanks!
Hmm... Someone said... SFX Blood Red. Be aware, it fades to a lovely pink shade,
Blood red--Pink. Darker end of the spectrum
Candy Apple Red--Pink. Middle of spectrum.
Cherry Bomb--Pink. Neon end of the spectrum.
Devilish--Pink. Darker end of the spectrum.
Hot Lava--Orange. Darker end of the spectrum.
Nuclear Red--Orange. Neon end of the spectrum.
Notes I saved... :-*
Ahh, thank you! I must have missed that. π I appreciate your notes!

Scoured this thread from top to bottom and I'm seeing differing opinions on what the Directions brands of blue fade to. Now that I'm overseas and can no longer get Special Effects- Blue haired freak, I've been trying to find a suitable replacement. Can anyone tell me which brand of Directions blue would best emulate SFX? I'm trying to find a blue that fades more purple/pink than green.
lagoon, neon & midnight are all purple based.
MP Electric Lava fades to a pretty orange/peach colour and doesn't. Go. Away. I've bleached it within an inch of its life and it just stayed the same so in the end i put the Lava back over top and got on with it.
MP wildfire has a more yellow base on my hair though (i was a touch yellow underneath the dye) and it faded to a strange ginger/yellow that i loathed - within a week. Just one. For that reason I won't use that dye again. I have an almost full pot under my sink that wont be used.
Manic Panic purple haze faded so fast on my hair, I felt like it faded without me even washing it. It did look nice though, from light purple to pink/peach, I got more compliments when my hair was fading than when I first she's it!
Stargazer Plume- fades to electric blue first, then gradually lightens to become turquoise/teal ish. This was a bit of a surprise for me!
Crazy Colour
Fire - fades to pink/peach
Capri Blue - fades to light Capri blue!! No really it's a deep mint green/turquoise gonna have to bleach bath to shift it.
Violetta - lilac/silver
Directions
Silver - washes out completely
Neon Blue - blue rinse, actually very lush
Lilac - silver
White Toner - did nothing
Manic Panic
Virgin Snow - washes out completely
Please note tho, my hair is very thick, shoulder length and very platinum
Does anyone know what Directions Vermillion Red fades to?
Orange, unless they have changed it recently.
Orange, unless they have changed it recently.
Thank you π
Pravana Silver, in my experience, starts a silvery blue, then fades to blue, then green really quickly.
Adding my experiences in case they're useful to anyone.
Directions Plum over naturally blonde hair - faded to grey-blue within two washes over virgin hair near the roots, and faded to a lovely collection of blues and greens where I'd previously had highlights (I love the peacock shades, but they're not really work appropriate for me!)
Directions Plum over XXL Pure Purple (permanent bright pink dye) - fades to peacock shades, but only on the previously highlighted sections, the bits that are box dyed but that weren't bleached in the past have faded to pinky-purple.
I've found that it doesn't matter if I add Dark Tulip or Rubine to the Plum, it still fades like Plum regardless of how much pink has been put in the mix! This could be because all my hair except a few inches at the roots has been bleached in the past year though.
