Talk to me about Pravana Violet

It really is a true, balanced violet, not too blue, not too purple, just a nice, true violet. When I've used it over a pale yellow/white base, it's a true violet that just fades to lighter shades of violet, to a silvery lavender, then back out to white. They made the line for stylists because their colors are so true, so very easy/predictable to mix. Like, you don't have to worry about what the base color is of any of their colors because they are what they are - true, crayon like colors. It makes it hard to screw up! lol When I used it neat it stayed a strong violet for about 2 months (using a sulphate shampoo and hot water to wash every 7-10 days), but starts fading more after that and was completely gone in about 4 months. It probably would have lasted longer had I known how to take care of semis at the time though! lol

I mix Pravana Violet with Pravana Blue 3:1 and diluted with conditioner 1:3 for my purple.  You will not have any coverage issues, this stuff is potent.  I do my roots every 5 weeks, and last time I didn't refresh my lengths.  So it has been 8 weeks since I applied it, and it has hardly faded at all.  I want to do a different mix in 2 weeks when I do my roots again, but it has hardly faded even though I switched to sulphate shampoo a few weeks ago, so we'll see.

Can it be mixed with other brands?

I believe Pravana's a true semi, so you should be able to mix it with other brands like Directions or Manic Panic without issue.

Yes you definitely can mix it with other brands! My usual mix is Pravana Violet with SFX Virgin Rose, but I've mixed Pravana with Manic Panic, Directions, and Paul Mitchell and it's always worked out just fine 🙂 It really is a wonderful, long lasting, balanced violet! A tiny bit goes a long way. I only need to use a pea size of it for my whole head, if I use more my hair ends up straight up purple. Like, this was about an ounce and a half of VR (which you know how potent that stuff is!), a few oz of conditioner, and probably a pea size and a half of Pravana Violet, and look at how much more purple/violet it made my hair compared to my avatar:

I absolutely ADORE IT! I used just tiny bit, literally 2 drops with loads of conditioner and it was really pretty purple, I'm not looking after the color at all, I'm using normal shampoo, normal conditioner, i wash my hair once or twice a week, every time i put some oil or some homemade mask on my hair before i wash it and after 2 months color is still pretty vibrant,light purple. (it is lighter then first time i dyed it ofc) Stuff is AMAZING! I think one tube will last me a year  😀

14/05 update: they arrived! Both are gorgeous colours 😀 Now of course I don't know which to try first...and I've also got a new hankering for Enchanted Forest!

Ooh, do the purples on top and the Enchanted Forest on the bottom--it'll be so pretty!
