swimming and semi permanent dyes

Hi everyone,

I have recently joined a gym and want to make use of their swimming pool and lovely steam room but I dont want to end up with dye running everywhere while im there! I tried just putting my hair up with a bobble so none hangs down but it obviously still gets wet and with the added heat of the steam I am worried I will be staining the gym purple

So any advice/tips to prevent this? Thanks

Cover it in conditioner or use a swim cap. I don't really know of anything else!

most of the gyms enforce a swimming cap for longer hair anyway (atleast in my area), and its the easiest way to protect your hair anyway πŸ™‚

I'd say swimming cap too! I use a pool regularly at the moment but never go under water, so I tie my hair up in a bun right on top of my head - and my hair still manages to get wet! So I'd say go for swimming cap to make sure you don;t leave hair dye in the water. Not sure what advice to give about steam room as I think your head may get a bit hot if it's covered

edit - maybe get a sweatband to wear for steam room!

Yep, swimming cap for the pool and a sweatband (or a cloth headband, the kind that goes all the way around your head-they do the same thing) for the steam room--or just generally in the gym.  I tie my hair back in a tight ballerina bun and put a cloth headband along my hairline when I work out so I don't end up with a pink face!

I'd definitely second a swimming cap, but I've been to the pool with just my hair tied back in bun. I didn't stain the place blue and I didn't notice any fading or bleeding, luckily!

I was just playing around with my friends though, not serious swimming! πŸ˜›

Thanks for the ideas everyone, think I will try a combo or everything, conditioner under the swim cap might work out well considering how drying chlorine is so even if it does get wet at least the conditioner will help, also the headband is a good idea for the steam room just to stop it running down my neck haha.
