Suggestions for a purple dye?

I've been totally swooning over purple hair lately, so Ive decided I want some for myself!

Right now my hair is red (Manic Panic- Vampire Red, first pic below). I'm leaning toward a darker purple shade (I'll throw some pics below for a general ideas on what I mean)

I'm just looking for some suggestions on which dyes might cover the red-- I'm trying to avoid lightening it with products, in the interest of keeping it healthy (I wil probably let the red fade a bit before attempting a new color, of course!) Also, in terms of color, I'd like something darker/not crazy bright purple? I've heard great things about the Pravana violet color, but I'm afraid it will be too vibrant.

Any ideas?

Over your red I would try using Pravana Violet but also get some of their blue. Just using the Violet may make it more vibrant looking than in the photos you posted, but using some blue in the mixture should help tone it down a bit. Both are very true, balanced colors, don't fade to different colors, just lighter versions of themselves. Just so you know, so you don't have to worry about the blue being green based or anything like that. Also, you will probably want to dilute the mixture too so it doesn't come out too dark. I would start with a test strand of it diluted 3 parts dye to 1 part conditioner and see how you like it.
