Suggestions? Do not like the top layer of hair

Hey friends, so I did my hair yesterday and it's a really pretty color underneath, but the top layer clashes with it. I have Adore dark chocolate, clairol wine brown, and a box dye of loreal preference dark ash brown.... I really want to avoid using a box dye ever again... but it looks like the other ones I have have tones of red in it.... what do you think I should do?

Edit: I also have adore blue black if I mix a portion of that with the adore dark chocolate will it cancel out some of the Reds? I know blue and red make purple but maybe that's better than the red tones.... Not totally sure

Update: in case anyone was wondering I just dyed it dark chocolate mixed a little bit of Directions apple green in there. Don't really know if I mixed enough green since I still have tones of red in my hair, but now that it is darker I am happier with it =) will post results up in the appropriate section.
