hey everyone, quick question about stargazer dyes..
i've never used them before, i've been using directions and special effects for the last 3 years and wondering how long lasting they are (vaguely)? and also how far their dye goes? for instance, my current hair takes just over one pot of directions but only half a pot of SFX- just wanna know how many pots to buy π
thanks in advance guys x
i started off using Stargazers just over 10 years ago to be honest was the only dye i used for 3 years then went permanent.
went back to stargazers about 4 1/2 yrs ago and they are not as good to be honest directions atm is the only one i use now for vibrancy etc and i only have to top up once every 2 1/2 - 3 weeks with directions π
i have shoulder length hair and used to use 2 bottles of stargazers per application twice a month so depending on hair length and thickness could be more it could be less π
ah right, judging by all that i'll probably stick to directions then- less expensive and if stargazer arent even as bright but double the price because i'll need 2 bottles, that doesnt seem worth it to me! thank you! π
no worries glad to help!! xxx
It also depends on which shade you want. I've used a couple of stargazer dyes, but all on the darker side.
Tropical Green starts really dark on me (undiluted), but I've had it in for 2 weeks now with washing my hair every other day (no co wash) and it's only gotten lovelier. Brighter. Nowhere near needing to redye. It lasts ages for me.
Same result with Royal Blue, starts out rather dark (undiluted), gets brighter with washes and lasts ages. This one does have a LOT of rub off. Your fingers will be blue-ish in the first few weeks by running hands through hair and whatnot.
I haven't tried any other shades (apart from mixing Tropical Green with Blue Black for a teal colour), but these work really well for me!
I need more than one tub for shoulder length as well, but then again I barely have enough from one tub of Directions.
For me stargazer dyes have always faded quickly, but I've only used warm colours by them so I don't know about things in the blue/ green spectrum.
