Special Effects UV dye - not reacting to UV light?!

Hi all,

So I've just dyed my hair using Special Effects Napalm Orange and it isn't reacting to uv light at all! πŸ™ Any ideas what could have gone wrong? Thought I'd check here before emailing beeunique. Thanks. x

Mimi

I just had the same problem with mine! My bottles had the black cap so I guess it's the newer batches as my old ones used to have a white cap?
I have to say, I was so disappointed!

Yup my new batch bottles weren't uv reactive either πŸ™

I would email Beeunique and Special Effects. It might be that Nickki isn't aware that it's no longer UV and Special Effects might have a reason it's not when it should be?

I've emailed Beeunique now. I tried emailing special effects direct first but their email isn't working. πŸ™

Hi,  Special Effects are notoriously bad at replying to emails so you are unlikely to hear from them direct.  I have phoned them today and explained about Napalm Orange as, despite being a very good seller, this is the first we have heard of there being a problem with UV not working.  I will update on here and to your email as soon as I hear back from them.

Thanks fot bringing this to my attention.

UPDATE - I have spoken to SFX and they have confirmed nothing has changed with the formula so they will run some checks on random dyes from this latest batch and get back to me.

They also said as with all UV items they need to be 'charged' by light first before they will glow properly so if you were in a dark-ish pub then onto a club with uv lights you probably wont get much glow.  Also to make sure your base colour is fairly light before applying as this can affect the final colour result too and this in turn will show in how UV dye reacts/how much glow you get.

I am sure you all know this anyway, so will wait on their reply about the tests x

Thanks Nickki! I have a UV light at home so I've tested it pretty thourougly, even the bottle I have doesn't glow so I don't think it's  due to lack of charging. I have had that bottle for a while though so it's possible that the uv-ness has a short half life or something.
