Special Effects Update

Hi - I hope it’s ok to post here, but I couldn’t find any more recent info about the ‘missing’ SFX dyes.

I’m going back to SFX after years using Directions, so I haven’t been watching SFX on the website - hence my question: did you get the SFX dyes and they just sell out, or is there an ongoing problem with getting the out-of-stock dyes like Nuclear Red, etc?

Is it worth committing to SFX dyes again or are there expected to be continuing supply issues.

TIA : )

Hi,

I moved your post to it's own thread so I can update as soon as I know any more.

Unfortunately Special Effects are still not making all of their colours just now but assure me they will be adding them back into production in the future.  We cannot say with any certainty when this is likely to be and for the meantime they are adding back in one or two colours every 6 months or so.

Thank you for that, and thank you for moving my post : )

Hmmm......maybe i’ll stick to Directions then. I’ve spent hours looking at dye pics and exploring new dyes, but I’m wary of going with a new brand and then having a hair disaster! I knew SFX from years ago, but hadn’t realised just how many issues there were with them now.

I know the feeling - was always my go-to brand even before I started Beeunique in 2005.

I have found pravana to be quite good for me and also adore, although adore lasts less time but is a lot cheaper so may be worth a try for you.

Yeah, it makes me sad, but I’ve given up on sfx too 🙁 I just don’t trust them to not run out and then not produce any for a year or more. I don’t think they ever caught up after moving warehouses, what was it, three years ago? More?

Adore is great for reds if that’s what you’re after. I’ve not been a fan of the pravana I’ve tried, but I’ve not tried many yet. I’ll always like directions though.
