Sorry if I'm repeating! Technique questions/advice? Please?

Ok, again I'm sorry if this has been gone over, and I'm just not seeing it. I've searched I promise, but my scrambled egg stroke brain misses a lot right in front of me, so please be patient!? Pretty please?

Ok, I'm doing a 4 color dye (pink, purple, blue, teal/peacock green) and I was going to gradient them from root to end, but I started thinking, maybe it should do this in layers? Maybe I should do random chunky sections? I know I'm a bit of an indecisive person, but I also know this pink is seriously 4 months and still pink, not pastel, but pink on my bleached hair. Meaning, unless I oops it when I grow bored, which is don't like the idea of, I'm going to be stuck with this awhile. My hair has always grabbed color well.  So, if I'm going to be living with it for a time, I'm just wanting to get the best technique in. I know taste is subjective, but I'm just looking for maybe someone who knows which is going to wash the best as far as run out, which apparently I get very little of after the first 2wks no matter how hard I try. I'm a once a wk washer, sometimes longer as being disabled, if I'm not going out for 2 wks, I'll let it go if I can stand it. But I am a heat product user. Blow dryers, flat iron, curling irons/wands, all of it! I don't even know if that info helps here. My local hair dresser said shed do it for me but it's going to be $300. Now I'll pay for a $40 haircut every 2 yrs, diy-ing the rest of the time, but $300? When I know they are going to use the same products I am, and I'm not keeping the leftovers for touch ups? No thanks! It's hair, it'll grow back at that price if I screw up too badly.

Basically I'm just too new at this fun color dyeing. I saved myself $100 doing the under half of my hair pink, because I figured even I couldn't screw that up. But I'm getting daring and would love tips, tricks, advice on best multi color application?

Sorry, I was long winded, I always am it seems. Can't ever just shut up! Or make up my darn mind! Lol! Thanks in advance for anyone who would be willing to give a gal some ideas?!!?

Doing separate colours on layers is easier for touch ups if you want to keep the colours a long time. A gradient always looks stunning though, I get the most compliments when I have some sort of gradient in my hair.
If you get sick of it before it has faded out you can always dye over with different colours.

My hair is just a at my shoulders. I do NOT do the gradient but still get the effect of gradient by parting and doing in sections. I work my way from the bottom up. I typically do three colors, but have done more. I do the underneath first to about bottom or mid-ear, then top of my ear or a little above, then crown, then front or top.

I have also parted a "star" shape on the top of my head and dyed that separately. It doesn't look like a star when it is done, the pieces just fall over the rest in a nice pattern. When it is parted and up in a pony tail, it does look like a star from above.

Sometimes, when redying, you don't get it exactly where it was before, but it still turns out ok. Just make sure you are putting colors next to each other that won't cancel each other out or turn brown when they come in contact with each other (for example, red and green).

Hope that helps.
