semi permanent black over light brown hair?

my boyfriend is planning to cosplay with me soon, and hands down will not wear a wig, at all. and said character has black hair so i was wondering which semi permanent would be best?
his hair is light brown, and all natural currently, but ideally he wants a dye which will fade out pretty fast back to his normal hair colour, since it will only be a weekend thing.

A temporary black spray would be ideal for this type of situation, it washes straight out. Or a wash in wash out dye such as Roux Fanci-Full, they make a black shade.

sprays are out of the question, most flake off and rub off on clothes which is going to probably ruin it, i'll look into Roux Fanci-Full, thanks 🙂

I wasn't thinking of the cheap type of spray you see at Halloween, more of the stuff designed to cover first greys and thinning hair.

Fanci-full won't make your hair black, but it will darken it a bit. I used to use it on my brown-black natural hair and only got a shade darker and it was very much a brown shade.

There are certain types of theatre makeup you can use on your hair that wash straight out - maybe have a look online at theatre makeup suppliers?
