Removing dye stains from tubs/sinks

What is the cheapest and fastest way to clean dye stains from tubs and sinks.  I was able to get most of the dye off my sink with tooth paste but it took a whole tube and it only faded it.  If I look closely I can still see it. *1*

nail varnish remover on a cotton pad is my favourite! 🙂 usually takes it right off. or scrubbing with bleach I guess

Depends on the surface but I use bleach! Gets everything out especially in the grout on the walls or floors

Anything with a high level of alcohol in it will work.

Hand sanitiser or face wipes are easy quick fixes for me ... I've never tried using mouthwash to clean it off, but I would suppose that would work well, too.

Nani, I wish bleach took it out of my grout ... I've tried and it's just so stained that I'm going to have to go over it with a grout pen.  It does take it out of the sealant, though.

I have a fantastic mould remover spray that gets rid of pretty much everything instantly.

Nail varnish remover and alcohol based products as mentioned above. ^^^

Also you might want to try a cheap cream cleaner, one with "bits" in it. Cif cleaner is good because the gritty bits scrub the surface but if the dye has penetrated the sealant in your bathroom you might just want o use a bleach on it and leave the bleach for a couple of hours. I put a bottle of dye on our white bathroom cabinet (more than once) and didn't realise that although I'd washed the bottle the water still had traces of dye in it and the white surface ended up with a pink ring on it! I used a toothbrush to apply a little bleach on the circle and left it a couple of hours. When I came back the ring was gone! A quick rinse and the smell of bleach was gone too, yay!

Like I said, I've actually done this more than once now (you'd think I'd learn, right?) and bleach soaks out the dye every time. It doesn't work so well on old glossed banister rails though. :-/

I'll have a look what it's called when I get home Daftscrawl. We had pretty bad black mould in the bath sealant and it's got rid of pretty much all of it, plus the pink staining from me >< I'm not sure where you buy it though; my mum got it from an independent home- and hardware store where she lives - you know the sort of dark cave-like place that goes on forever at the back that you can trawl through for hours looking for treasure ... or I can anyway 😉

Yeah it's better to get at it straight away but I find that I clean the bathroom like a maniac then find pink bits everywhere else! LOL It's been on the stairs, the kitchen door, the window sill... You name it I found it there.

Luckily for me Norwich has one of those places, it's like a cave full of DIY elves. I get lost everytime.

I use a mould remover spray too! I think it's a Dettol one, it's just called mould & mildew remover or something. It works a treat on my poor, pink-stained bathroom!

We got a mould remover spray from Homebase ... it's amazing, destroys mould in 10 mins.

Hmmm ... straight bleach didn't work on the grout, but now you've given me an idea, Tabitha!
