After using Adore reds for about 6 years (first Intense Red and then Wild Cherry), I came to the conclusion that I liked them but didn’t love them, so thought I’d try something different. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try Crazy Colour Ruby Rouge. I absolutely love the shade - I feel like it’s the red I’ve been searching for all my life. But what I’m not loving is how much colour bleeding I’m experiencing compared to the Adore dyes. I’ve just come back from a holiday at Center Parcs, and although I tied my hair up on top of my head, the small part that got wet was causing rivers of red to run down my back every time I was at the pool - quite embarrassing. This was after my hair had been washed seven times since dyeing it, so the dye wasn’t even that fresh. I found that adore would give a bit of colour run-off the first couple of washes, but then nothing significant, whereas my shower looks like a blood bath with the crazy colour. It stained my skin pretty badly, too. I’m afraid of what will happen when I go out in the rain! Can anyone please recommend a colour similar to Ruby Rouge that won’t cause these issues?

You could try diluting it with a plain white conditioner.
Also rinse in cold water after washing etc to help keep the colour in your hair.
I used to have this problem with Directions blues until I mixed 50:50 with conditioner.

I had a red similar to this, but it was Manic Panic Vampire Red. This was probably a year and a half ago, so I'm not sure if the formula has changed at all, but it looks pretty similar. I just mixed 1 pot of that with a big handful of white conditioner and I had very minimal bleeding. I also only wash my hair in cold water every 2 weeks. Occasionally I will co-wash in between shampoo's if I'm feeling a little extra oily.

As above, dilute with conditioner. I add conditioner until its heavily diluted but not changing the depth of the colour. This seems to spread out the pigment so it covers the hair the same but doesn't leave a bunch free to run constantly. I've found this helps with all dyes that bleed.

Thanks all - I will try diluting with conditioner next time. Would you also recommend leaving the dye on the hair for less time? I used to leave Adore on for 2-3 hours (on hair that had been washed with clarifying shampoo and then blow dried first) to help it stick and last well, but I’m wondering if this is too long for crazy colour and I’ve ended up with way too much dye clinging to my hair, hence the annoying bleeding.

That shouldn't make a difference. Rinsing for longer is more likely to help.
