Red over faded purple?

I'm getting sick of waiting for my purple hair to fade, it has faded a lot but looks really horrible now. Will a red cover it, if so what reds a good pure red? Will attach pic later if needed.

Depends what colours it has faded to, but generally reds go darker on top of purple/blue , more wine coloured. If the red is orange based it will go brownish purple, the sort of 'natural' red/purple you get with box dyes.

How about a brown semi? Would that cover it, I'm not wanting super dark. I've attached a pic

sorry for the double post, I'm on my iPad. It's still dark(ish) on the top & lighter on the ends its got pink tones & blue tones through it in the light. It's so hard to capture the true colours.

I did a mix of pink based reds over hair a similar colour when I first went to red; it turned out a plummy/wine type of colour and gradually brightened up with subsequent applications.

Let me see if I can find the thread.

*edit*  Here we are!

*second edit*  In case you're curious, it faded to this and then I put Hot Lava over it--after that, it stayed various shades of orange/pink whenever it faded.

Thanks for the reply πŸ˜€ That came out lovely & faded so nicely too, I'm gonna probably end up putting s red over my purple although I do currently have colour remover on, so unless that does anything red it is!
