Dear everyone,
I sincerely need to change my hair again. So I think I want this colour.
Which hairdye would be best to achieve this? I don't have access to all the hair dye, but if the site Beeunique just sends to The Netherlands, you can recommend dyes from there aswell. I don't really have preference of brands, since I never used a semi dye before.
It looks to me like that photo has a filter on it so it may be difficult to get something so pale but bright.
You will need a very light blonde base so depending on what you have used on your hair currently you may need to use a colour remover and then lighten your hair and then will probably need to mix a small amount of a blue-based purple dye into some white conditioner to create a similar shade. I'm not sure what the best colour would be though as I don't have a lot of experience of purples or pastels.
I agree, that looks like either a filter or a wig, so that color might not be quite achievable, but you could probably get a nice pastel purple with lauralei's suggestion of using a purple dye in conditioner
I'd go as far to say I suspect it's photoshopped.
But yeah, what these guys said. It needs a very pale base and a blue based purple dye with conditioner. Maybe Directions Neon Blue? I've seen that one suggested a lot in the past for this kind of colour.

And if using that colour, should I bleach to white or just ginger / yellow?
I hadn't considered it could be a wig but I just googled 'lavender cosplay wig' and it does look a lot like some of them! The other things that made me think the photo had been altered was that the background and the girls cheeks both have a lilac tint to them.
Basically whether it is a wig or if the photo has been doctored in some way, the point is that you might not get something as even as this, or as bright.
As Janine mentioned your main concern at the moment is how to lighten your hair and whether it is currently dyed, if you get that stage right you will stand a better chance of being happy with the end result. If you need further advice please let us know what your hair history is!
I just accidentally deleted my own post in this thread, which was just above the last one, in an attempt to edit it! I'll repeat it here...
"Never, ever, ever bleach to white. You bleach to a very pale yellow, like the inside of a banana. If it's white, it's gone too far and it's almost certainly going to start breaking.
Normally you'd then tone to white for a pastel colour. For the colour you're going to be using is the colour you'd be toning with, so you'll be doing two jobs in one.
Also, your next move is actually based on if your hair is already dyed or not. Bleach might not be your first stop, so what is your hair like now?
And keep in mind, as we already mentioned, this is almost certainly not a true colour result which makes it really hard to replicate. Make sure you lower your expectations and be ready for a compromise :)"
My har is dyed now, yes. It is with a permanent dye (I think), dyed like a purple / bourdeaux red.
It has now faded to a redbrown colour. How will this affect my ways of dyeing my hair?
And I will lower my expectations. 🙂 I just wanted it to have the same hue. I will just try the Directions Neon blue!
You will probably find it very difficult to go from the colour you have now to that kind of shade, even darker. You will very likely have red/orange staining which is almost the direct opposite of that colour and it's such a delicate colour that isn't forgiving at all.
You'll need to use a colour remover first. Don't start with bleach as you'll risk driving the colour deeper into the hair and making it even harder to remove. You can use colour removers up to three times. I'm not sure what you can get there, but I like Decolour Remover.
Ooops, I was typing a reply and somehow deleted it! I was just going to say what Janine said in the meantime though! Start with a colour remover and see whether you are left with staining, if you are then bleach won't shift it but if you do manage to get the existing colour out then you can begin to lighten. Be aware that the colour remover will not bring back your natural colour but will most likely leave your hair a brassy ginger as it takes it to the colour it has been lightened to (and all permanent dyes lighten to some degree).
Also, don't forget if you do use the neon blue dye you will need to dilute it by adding a small amount of it to some white conditioner!
I've just asked with my local beauty supply shop for hair removers. But they said that they did not exist for permanent hair. They just said to bleach it. Now I am a bit confused as of what to do or not.
They definitely exist, everyone on here has probably used one at some point when changing hair colors. I'm in the US so I don't know where you can get them, but I'm sure one of the other ladies can give you an idea. Sometimes the retail workers don't realize you can use a color remover on permanent dyes, so I would just try another store if I were you, because you definitely don't want to go straight from redish hair to bleaching, that spells out disaster. I had a deep maroon color and then went close to platinum, so I think it can be possible depending on your hair situation, but if you don't take the right steps that the girls pointed out then you'll end up with a mess on your hands.
What I have in my local drug store is this; https://www.kruidvat.nl/kruidvat-donkere-tonen-haarontkleuring/p/2920765
Sorry, it is in Dutch! :/ That is what I have. I have no idea if this is the good stuff.
Yeah, beauty supply shops rarely carry them and the staff, in most places that I and others have encountered, are generally not very knowledgeable about anything other than the basics. Never trust them fully!
You find them in normal chemist/drug stores or whatever the equivalent is there. As far as I can tell from the translation, that one is fine. Try that and come back with the results. If it doesn't remove much the first time, it can be used up to three times. Have a good deep conditioner to hand as well as they are a bit drying.
But what is the difference between a hair colour remover and bleach? Because I went to my hairdresser and she said there is no difference between the two, and that first removing colour first then bleaching is the Same as bleaching in one go.
