Purple to ginger?

Quick question from a friend of mine - she has a streak of purple (Directions violet and Cerise mixed ) which was over faded Alpine Green, she wants to get it back to the same ginger as the rest of her hair and I'm drawing a complete blank! Is she best going via pink?

she needs to try and get the blue out before anything else. Or are you suggesting she's ok going round the colour wheel?

If it's the latter, yeah, adding more and more pink then gradually adding orange over time would help.

Yeah I've suggested she might be best going around the colour wheel and she seems ok with that (sorry, just realised I did not say that in my question!) as I said to her that the blue is going to be the problem, she seems ok with going pink - red- orange though, just wanted to make sure I was right! Thank you!

It's definitely the least destructive option! I think she might find that streak comes out darker than the rest until the blue is very faded, but that could look cool πŸ™‚

I have warned her that the streak might be darker, but I think it'll look cool too!

Hello! I'm actually trying to do the same, my blue has a mixture of neon blue, cerise,  plum and Violet. So basically very blue based!

Work does not allow me to have blue but I can go orange ginger, as long as it's not vibrant! I can go a dull red but a pink is a big no no, so not sure how to get round the  colour wheel. I'm fading it with head and shoulders,  attempting to attach picture.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P's excuse grumpy face, was concentrating on getting the colour to show as best as possible

When I was trying to dull down my bright red to a natural ginger for moving here and looking for work I used some blue to take the edge off the brightness of my orangey red colours so you might find if you use something bright orange over that you may end up with a rusty kind of colour.

I've put orange over blue a little less saturated than that and it has come out a rusty colour so I think you would be OK to put orange over that.

I've been around the colour wheel from the purple in my icon (Directions Cerise and Rubine over faded Plum - my hair was stained bright blue under all that thanks to me trying to bleach out the Plum) to bright auburn.

It did take a while, but when I got back to auburn it was fiery and didn't get muddied by any residual blue. I basically worked my way through Direction's pinky reds until my hair was more pink than purple, then swapped over to Adore's more natural reds. Then a box dye for a strong base.

raremens, best of luck getting auburn πŸ™‚ Looking at your photo, it could be worth doing a strand test over what you have now, as it's faded beautifully.  I found that deeper auburns worked well. I can't remember the names of all the dyes, but I seem to remember Adore Paprika was in the mix, along with their burgundy (Bordeaux maybe?).

Thanks, that sounds like my friend's plan will work pretty well then!

I had a lot of luck with Adore Paprika too, it's a lovely colour.
