Hi All,
In another post I wrote asking info about what shade/lightness I had to bleach my hair to to then be able to tone or dye it a medium ash blonde. I received some replies regarding that but now I'm left with another problem -- purplish streaks from toning with Manic Panic's ultraviolet!! I bleached about 2 wks ago which left me with a medium orange colour so I bleached again today which resulted in bright gold (more gold then shows up in this pic). I wanted to give my hair a bit of a break so I thought I could tone with manic panic's "ultraviolet" diluted in conditioner....
Problem is, while it did a really good job of toning down the over all bright/gold brassy colour, as you can see it's left me with very purplish streaks throughout *cat* (though it doesn't look this purplish in person it's still something I wouldn't leave the house with!)....So, I was wondering:
1) Does anyone know why only parts of my hair have picked up this especially purplish colour?, and how can I get rid of this in as gentle (yet quick) way as possible?, and
2) Can I use a demi (Ion's no-ammonia #7 in medium ash blonde) over the semi (manic panic 'toner') to achieve a medium ash colour without it turning my hair an awful green or something else or do I have to wait until the manic panic completely washes out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You've bleached your hair twice in two weeks, so it will probably be very delicate now. If this toner has peroxide, i.e. if requires you to mix two things together, steer clear of it, because that's another dose of bleach you'll be putting on. Damage usually doesn't show up right away after bleaching so right now it will be hard to tell how much damage you might have done to your hair.
A couple of shampoos with a clarifying shampoo should get rid of the purple. You'll need to use a really good conditioner afterwards though, as it will be very drying to your hair. I'd also recommend using a reconstructor once a week, like K-Pak, or coconut oil.
I still think your hair is too orange to use purple to tone with and you need to use a blue instead - mix it up exactly the same as you did the purple, diluting it with conditioner.
The bleaching has made your hair porous though. You'll have to put the blue on the orange only and carefully or you'll have exactly the same issue you have now.
