I am desperate for help and freaking out. I know all of you are going to cringe because I have treated my hair very poorly. So here is my story. I have been box dying my hair for a few years now and for awhile my hair just happened to be an ombre from dark to light. I wanted to dye my whole head the colour of my ends so I got it professionally done but it ended up being WAY lighter than I wanted, it was basically neon yellow lol. So I panicked and went to the drugstore and bought a neutral ash blonde shade and dyed it. It turned out darker but the issue is my roots and top of my head looked orangey so I redid the top of my head again. I waited a few weeks and then dyed it all a little blonder but my whole head turned brown!!!!!!!! I have prom on Friday and want to get back to my original colour but I feel like its not possible cause it has been dyed so much I don't know what to do, I hate the way it looks right now I feel so ugly. I don't mind the damage but do you believe it can be fixed!!??

Get a colour remover (not a colour stripper) and use it.  Use the whole pack, follow the instructions to the letter until you get to the rinsing part - rinse rinse rinse in as hot water as you can stand for as long as possible, keep your hair moving and the water rinsing through all areas of your hair from root to tip all over.  Do not skimp on the rinsing!!!!

What colour removers do is they shrink the artificial colour molecules (I think some claim to shatter them actually) then you rinse them out.  Over the next few days any remaining colour molecules might "recover" or "re-oxidise" so if you didn't rinse them all out your hair could darken again.  If that happens, just use another pack of colour remover but try harder  πŸ˜‰  It's also very VERY important to NOT process/bleach your hair during this time as you could make things worse.
Colour removers aren't damaging as such but they do dry your hair out (and stink) so you'll want to do a nice fragrant deep conditioning treatment afterwards.

This might not get you back to your natural colour but it should remove whatever dye you have so that you get back to your base colour, ie whatever your bleached hair looks like underneath the dye.
If you have any untreated/virgin hair it shouldn't be affected.

Once you have a result from the colour remover then you can think about where to go next eg direct dyes.  Adore do a great range of natural colours, which can be intermixed and blended to create your desired shade, and will not damage your hair.
