Hello,
I have my hair dyed with SFX Atomic pink and want to dye it purple, was thinking of adore violet gem.
What is your opinion on this brand and color?

Also what is the best way to dye over the faded color?  Should I do bleach bath?

Thanks

If it's a faded pink I think you should be fine to just put Violet Gem over it for a nice warm purple, I think it would look really pretty πŸ™‚ If it's faded to more of an orangey color though (not sure what your base is) you may want to mix in a cool pink with it like Adore Pink Rose or something too so it has a nicer fade

Hey there, I just recently put splat purple over AP and it worked. My pink was more orange leaning to. Can you post a pic after you do it because I would like to know what Violet Gem looks like!!!

When i put violet gem over very faded red it covered it perfectly! So much so that i panicked as it was quite dark and washed it a few times to brighten it!! Big fan of violet gem here!! πŸ™‚

I found a bottle with a bit of Directions Plum and used it but it didn't stick in most areas so maybe I'm gonna need to do a bleach bath first :/

Also since SFX dye is confirmed what you think would be better? the Adore dye or one of the SFX like Pimpin Purple?

Plum didn't stick? Did you clarify beforehand and not condition or use any products? If there's silicones or buildup in the hair at all it can hinder the dye uptake. And was your hair wet or dry, how long did you leave it on for + did you cover it with a cap?

I've personally never used Adore so I can't comment on their dyes, but I have used SFX and it's the best dye ever IMO lol. Pimpin Purple should work just fine too, or diluted Deep Purple

I have used all of the Adore purples πŸ™‚  Purple Rage, Violet Gem, and African Violet.  All are pink based, but African violet is a true purple that is more blue leaning.  I have nothing but great things to say about all of them and the dye itself has wonderful coverage and is very long lasting even when diluted.

Can you send me pics of your hair dyed with the adore dyes?

Have you used SFX Pimpin Purple?

Can you compare the staying power between Adore violet gem and SFX Pimpim Purple?

I used pimpin purple long ago, since my base was very pink it faded pretty fast and after 2-3 washes it looked the same like a few weeks old virgin rose... it was a really pretty colour though, I have to get around having it applied properly one day πŸ™‚
