Permanent bright hair dyes - do they exist?

Superdrug has some of these but ive not tried them myself yet. If anyone has let me know if they work.

I dont think so.  The ones i've tried anyway seem to fade even though the box says permanent.

I've tried a few permanent ones and they dont really seem to be permanent although do last alot longer than vegetable dyes.  The downside is they dont have that oomph of colour that I like.

The 'permenant' brights (reds/purples) I have tried fade horribley anyway, the live range is really bad for it! and thet are not as bright as sp colours : / Id rather just have to top the colour up

Thats what i've found - its easier to top up my semi-perm colour and get the real bright results rather than use a 'permanent' one that lasts only a month or so anyway.

I've tried most (Garnier/Live/Loreal/Smart colour) hoping for a more permanent dye job but none have really worked at all. I even got a light brown result from the Smart colour bright pink dye! it's always ended up being an unfortunate waste of both a dye job and my cash.

Bright 'permanent' colours do tend to fade i've noticed. However, one of my friends manages to surprise me sometimes.
She's had a semi-perm red box dye stay red over her light brown hair and she had to grow it out.
She then had bleached hair, and put a permanent (schwarzkopf Live XXL) red over it, and it turned out very bright, and faded to a bright pink. She then put on another Live XXL dye in purple, and it came out pretty damn bright, and stayed that way till she went over it with ANOTHER Live XXL black-blue, which turned out quite blue. She seems to be an exception to this rule of bright permanents fading.

Then you move on the the professional lines of bright hair colour, like joico and pravana. Pravana has a good reputation of lonevity, that it is basically permanent (and doesn't bleach out!) but it isn't mixed with peroxide. I've heard a little about redken high fusion dyes, which are mixed with peroxide and are bright colours, but don't know much about them.

Basically i think with how long the semi-permanent veggie dyes can last, theres not point making a permanent that will fade in the same time.

I think we looked into Pravana a while back but were unable to stock it on the website, but as you say so many of the semi-perm dyes last for ages anyway or can be removed quickly for hair colour changes etc that a permanent dyes would have to be really good and long lasting to compete.

Jan has used Pravana with good results but then got bored and wanted to change it again (so not like her)! Love you honey if your reading this and they made me type that last bit 🙂

My hair is dyed permanently red! and Hadley fades at all I use the brightest red you can get in Schwarzkopf professional called Igora Royal the shade number is  is 9-888
9= the depth ...in hair depth = 1 darkest 10 lightest. So it is very light!
the 8 = the tone

I use the per minant tint on my roots only,and then use a red semi per minant all over.
To make sure its got that extra oopth

Sadly ...usually in hair salons if someone wants bright red they use only a base 6! most people find this bright enough...but for all us in here it wouldn't be!
Plus a lot of pro colour do not have a red in lighter than a base 6,a base 7 red will have copper tones and on I think gives a faded look all the time.

So I would sugest anyone looking for a red to do the same its so but better than damaging the hair with bleach. As well as preventing fade.

You can also do this method with some purpe pro tints,go for the very light colour(light base purple) and use a semi on top to acheive a vibrant deep purple.

The only way I found this brighter pro colour is because my mother is a hairdresser..and I'm a hairdressing student. So I was pretty excited when I did! =)

if you going to commit yourself to a hair colour, its best that you keep redoing it anyway to keep the colour fresh and yummy, i personally have no problem with Semis, i even prefer them to permenants, as im always changing shades 🙂

No never use the smart dye ones!!!
there are a waste of money!!!!
and iver never found permanent ones iver, it would be good if someone would do a range tho!!!
