Patchy pink help please! (directions)

okay, so I'd been using XXL real red dye for about 3-4 months and then I decided to go for the pink I always wanted.  I asked around friends who have really bright hair and they all used directions so I decided to go for that.
When I bleched my hair it went white at the roots but ginger (and a bit patchy) everywhere else, I was expecting this due to having red hair but even after the second bleach it didn't lift much more I only have a picture from after the first bleach but it gives the general idea of what I've gone from and too!

I put the directions on damp hair and used directions carnation pink which looked like a much bolder colour, although I do love the candy floss pink colour I was wondering if there is anything I can do or any help you can offer to get it a bit more even??  I know I probably shouldn't have stuck the colour on uneven hair but patience has never been a strong point of mine, I did leave it for 15 mins as it said on the pot but there are bits on the ends of my hair that look under processed.

I don't mind it being a bit patchy still and don't mind either if the only way to save it is to maybe do something like putting a brown or dark purple on the top but leaving the underneath and a few streaks of pink in there.

any help you can offer would be appreciated!

thank you!

I would stick Cerise or Flamingo Pink on top as they're a bit stronger pink.

Wash your hair, don't condition, fire the dye on and leave several hours before rinsing. Resulting in a more pink, more even colour πŸ™‚

I know how you feel though, patience isn't a strong point of mine either!

I know this seems dim but I have a few more pots of the carnation pink here - would it work if I just used those????? :-/  If now I will order in the other ones, and thank you!!

More pale pink will just give you the same result. Directions is veggie based so it won't lift out any colour like some box dyes can do.

I like the idea of trying darker streaks, like purple or something. Maybe try Kitty's suggestion of a darker pink, that might look good. Remember to stick with a pink/purple/red for streaks, otherwise another colour will just mix with the pink you have and make another colour altogether.

I have no experience with carnation pink so it might work the same, but i'm not 100% positive sorry.

I would give it a try if you have the pots there. Leave it on for about 4-5 hours, keep checking it, make sure it doesn't go dry. Another tip is to wash out the colour in as cold as you can stand water, it helps close the pores of your hair, so not as much should wash out.

I always suggest to over dye, so completely saturate all your hair in dye then comb it all back then clip it up.
It should help with the patchiness, but if it doesn't i'd suggest putting a bolder pink over the top.

excellent, I'll go for it and then can order in a bolder colour if it's still not right.  I'll brave the cold shower too! lol
I usually clingfilm my hair, or would leaving it combed back work better?
I didn't realise colours would mix that way either so I'll be sure to stick to pink/purple/red if I end up going for the darker on top

No I sometimes cling too. That's just to keep it moist. I know some people blast with a hairdryer but I wouldn't really say to do it.

And veggie dyes are great, you could even mix the carnation with a deeper pink to help it take more.
Good luck!

Okay, I can't post pics yet as it's too dark and you can't see on the webcam but just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you - it looks SO good.  My roots are still slightly lighter (but I did expect that, not sure how much it will show up as this colour looks very different in artificial light) but everything else is now a lovely and solid colour πŸ˜€
You'll now have to await my post in about 2 weeks when I panic over doing the roots - don't think I could change my hair colour before checking here first now!!!!
thanks again, you're now my new favourite people!!
