I was looking at garnier olia, permanent dye in intense copper, and noticed out of all the shades, the copper shade was the only one without ppd listed in the ingredients. Does that mean its safe to use if your sensitive to ppd? If anyone can shed any light at all that would be awesome!
Alternatively does anyone know a semi auburn dye that will take to virgin hair? I cant bleach my hair anymore, even bleach baths are giving me slight burns!
I don't know anything about that particular product; could you contact the company? Alternately, have you considered henna or other natural colorants? This website has a list of PPD-free brands (it is probably not all-inclusive but it could be helpful):

Also you might want to consider either trying the Adore Plus line which is meant to cover greys and might work on virgin hair, or you could try presoftening your hair with 10 volume developer for 10 minutes or so to open the cuticle and make it more receptive to color; then you could probably use dyes from the regular Adore line which has more options.
All the company have really good help lines, so i would highly recommend you contact them and discuss it.
Ive emailed them, they said if its not listed its not in there, but theyre investigating further to give me a more accurate response.. And ordered henna. Ive tried pre softening etc and i use adore already but the colour washes out after 1-2 washes. Ive also ordered henna from the survana website.
It might sound dumb, but are you sure it is the PPD? I sometimes get burns too, but I only bleach my hair, I know my scalp is just too sensitive for anything chemical to put on. Last time it happened I got my hair bleached at a salon, oh well!
I don't think she means the ppd gives her burns as well, but that her scalp is so sensitive now that mild bleach baths are bad now.
