Has anybody tried this oil slick/ peacock/ iridescent style yet where you use shades of green and purple on the under layers of dark hair? I can't really have crazy colours at the moment but I'm sort of tempted to try it for my summer hols as my hair will need dying back dark when I get back anyway I would imagine.
I have a few questions though, if I were to use Directions Alpine Green and Plum how light would my base colour need to be? I've seen them both on unbleached hair and like that depth of colour but my hair is a level 5 brown with very warm, ginger tones - would that warmth turn those colours brown?
Are those two colours particularly bad for sticking/ being hard to get rid of? I'd only want them to last a couple of weeks really, and like I say I can colour over them when I get back, but a bit worried they'll show through.
Would they just run together when I wash my hair and go muddy? I genuinely don't know how using more than one colour at a time works but I've hear tales of people with rainbow hair having to foil it and wash a strand at a time, and I'm far too impatient for that!
Avoid Plum it stains like the devil.
Alpine green and Violet should both wash out fairly quickly, hard to say how they would look without actually seeing your base
Thanks WickedPixie, that could have gone very wrong for me! They're inexpensive enough that I can give it a go and see if they show up I guess π The version of it I really liked had the strands with purple near the root fading to teal at the ends but I'm wondering if placing them side by side on adjacent strands would stop them running into each other more when washing?
Edit: Here's my base colour, I could prob fade it though, it goes ashier over time if I don't top it up as it's over bleach for the most part, apologies for the sweary mug, it was the only photo I have - I tried to censor it a bit!
Update: Did a little test of Alpine Green and Violet today, the alpine has taken pretty well but the violet not so much (apart from the ends where I mixed a touch of leftover nuclear red in. It does give the overall effect I was aiming for but not sure how long it will last!
