Oil Slick Experiment

My Schwarzkopf Cosmic Blue has been getting deader and deader - not blue at all - every time I do my roots it goes blacker. I decided to mix my own and add coloured streaks for an oil slick effect.

I rubbed coconut oil into my scalp and hair and sat in it for over an hour (not tried this before - it was amazing) rubbed Crazy Color pre-lightening bleach all over my hair (80mins), just using gloved fingers avoiding roots - the oil made it glide on smoothly without missing anything and NO STING!

The next day I chose random pieces of hair mostly on the top and a slice of fringe to rub with dye.

My highlight colours:

Directions Turquoise + Crazy Color Blue Jade mix
Directions Cherry
Directions Violet

I wrapped them tightly in foil then covered the rest in my version of Cosmic Blue - aiming for more navy than black.

My cosmic blue mix:

Directions Atlantic Blue
Adore Royal Navy
Adore Velvet Black

The bright colours were protected in the foil. Left it all on for over an hour then rinsed and conditioned.

My hair is in a permanent 'fluffy' condition btw but I'm very pleased with the outcome and would recommend the coconut protection and mixing your own dark shade.
