Yes I definitely agree, mine was very much more pinky than the last bottle I used. It even looked different in the bottle.
Well special effects keep disappointing me π
I just used napalm orange over bleached roots and florescent orange not quite roots and it's nowhere near as pigmented as it used to be. I should have guessed because it's now orange in the bottle not red but I was hopeful.
It was my go to orange forever so now I'm really sad.
Such a shame, I wonder why they are changing their formula? I guess if you wanted something you could change easily they wouldn't be the ideal brand but for strong pigmentation and long lasting colour they were top of the game
It might just be that each batch is different. But each batch is ENORMOUS! So, batches change.
This is something that I know from knitting for years. Each batch comes in different, to the point they have batch numbers on the packs and if you run short you'll have to find another ball of yarn from that batch. If you don't, they won't match at all.
Same happens with paint very often. Pretty much anything that requires pigments.
This, enormous batch thing, would probably explain why they ran out of so many colours for so long. They deliberately ran down stocks to move, just at the same time as a huge rise in fashion colours for hair and huge batches take a long time to make and bottle. I seem to remember they also decided to make the batches even larger to cover demand.
Or of course, they made the formulas different to be cheaper or quicker to make. Who knows.
Whatever it was, I kinda think they handled this whole thing wrong.
Ah yeah you know the whole batch thing never occurred to me, I used to work in Haberdashery for a short time and I remember batching the yarn and wool coz it used to differ really badly sometimes - also I once worked in a interior fabrics place and you used to have to phone the factory and check if they had enough fabric left from a batch to make any big jobs. Hopefully it'll just turn out to be that.
I guess maybe it could work in their favour to make the formula a bit less long lasting as it would mean people have to buy it more frequently. I know a bottle used to last me months, I think I only used to buy about 3 bottles a year when my hair was short.
Sad either way though as I think some people will lose a bit of confidence in them as a brand
