Nuclear red looks super pink?

My hair is currently pink and I fancy red hair so I ordered nuclear red because it's meant to be really orange based but my bottle looks really pink based. When I smear some on white paper it's just pink.

Does it always look like this or have they changed formula or something? Advice from someone who has used it before would be great 🙂

I've got half a bottle of old Nuclear Red at home, I'll smear some on paper and take a photo tomorrow for you (in daylight) if you like?  I seem to picture it looking sort of orangey on my gloves when I used to use it but could be wrong.

I remember it being orange based. (I also remember answering this before, so heaven knows where my answer went!)

A picture of yours world be cool, lauralei. I can post mine too for rough comparison.

I specifically bought it because it's meant to be orange based so in a bit disappointed that it doesn't seem to be. I'll probably use it anyway but it's a bit rubbish.

I'm having so much trouble uploading these photos! Bear with me!  *stars*

Ok, third time lucky...

So to me the swatch defo looks a cooler toned red, not pink as such but certainly not anywhere near orange at all. It's hard to get a true photo but I've attached one taken with flash, one taken in daylight and one of it on my hair over a light yellow base

Thank you for that! It looks pretty similar to mine. I'll post mind when I take a picture. Does anyone have any suggestions for an actual orange based red?

Nuclear did fade orange on me, but over pink I think it might counteract that. It was the most orange red I found though without actually ending up just orange. You may need to mix some orange into it maybe? There were a few Directions ones that started out orange-red but I found they just turned muddy orange after a couple of washes

Heheheh!!

Yeah I found Directions oranges had all sorts of weird fade going on, like mustardy dingy patches! Be warned with Nuclear though, it lasts ages and gets brighter the more it fades (I've gone 6 weeks + without topping up before now! )

I have found adore oranges to fade super fast on me. But I have some in the house so I might mix some of it in anyway for now.

Do you have any Flo Glow? Yellows would also bring the pinky red back to an true red

Even though Adore fades fast it may just be enough to counteract the pink, when Wicked Pixie recommended I used a bit of green to counteract the red in mine when trying to go auburn I only had Directions Turquoise which usually fades really fast but somehow it still fades more towards brown after using it, the really bright red never came back through. I'd give it a go and see how you get on, like I say Nuclear faded more orangey on me so you may find Adore lasts long enough to carry the Nuclear through to it's orange fade (hopefully that makes sense, not even sure it makes sense to me - just woken up sorry!)
