New way to minimal fade

Hi all, as most people know I dyed my hair purple/pink around a fortnight ago. I seem to have stumbled on another way to help the dye stick. My hair has barely faded, which it tends to quickly. Especially when considering I'm using cc.

I dyed my hair as normal after a few hours I attacked it with the hair dryer until my hair was tacky but no dye was coming off. I then coated my hair in Shea butter oil (I'm sure coconut would be just as good) Hairdryered it again, mainly because it was late. Threw a towel over my pillow and slept on it. There was very little colour run off in the morning and there has been very little since, and my hair was super shiny. I can't say how chuffed I am. Colour and a treatment all in one go. Give it a go ;P

i think that when a new tip is invented it should be named after the inventor, this tip should now be called the Shoirty.

you can buy unrefined shea butter from ebay. It comes in freezer bags normally. its cheap and you can use it on your skin or hair (rub it in your hands, it turns straight to oil). Its very popular with the African american community. Just be careful to check the reviews, it can be over heated which makes it lumpy and less good.

Planning on doing this today w/ coconut oil~! I've got the dye in, so just a little longer and I'll break out the blow dryer. ^^ Thanks for the tip!

This sounds great, it would be awesome if it would work with pastel colours too! Can't wait to hear about more experiences with this.

So did you not wash the dye out then? Just dry it with the hair dryer? Sorry if that sounds like a daft question lol. I'm going blue soon and I know it can be difficult to stop fading in blue dye, my hair fades quite quickly anyway πŸ™

I washed the dye out in the morning. So I had it in for about 12 hours, I'm incredibly impressed with how it worked out, it seems to be an even better sealant than conditioner.

I'm dying my hair blue today (currently have lovely bleached coloured hair!) I will def be trying this idea, my hair fades so quickly so matter what colour I have. I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Definitely giving this a try as I'm going cerise and I imagine the run off to be a nightmare and I've bought some expensive shampoo with SLS in it and I wanna carry on using it!

It works a treat! I did it last week, very little run off and no transfer on anything πŸ™‚

I've just put some dye on my hair and getting ready to do this. Trying to locate my shea butter, otherwise it will be coconut oil.
