Hmmmm, bit concerned how this is going to turn out!!
My lovely raspberry from last week faded back to pink after just one or 2 washes so as my roots/greys needed done anyway I thought I would have a change to a proper red. Did a quick bleach bath all over to fade the colour a bit but it barely touched most of it as it's quite stained - I mixed the left over pink mixture (flamingo/carnation mix) with a pot of Vermillion, pot of Flame, and some leftover purpley mix (somewhere in between violet and plum) with a fair bit of conditioner....in the pot and on some white paper it looked to be a decent red but I've put it on and it looks ORANGE!!! ๐ฎ I'm hoping that the pink that is already on there will counteract it a little bit but I'm not overly hopeful! ๐
I normally leave it on overnight but I think I might rinse this off after a couple of hours just in case I need to get rid of it in a hurry...I can always do it again after a couple of washes if I like it! Whatever happens I will have to live with it for a couple of days as I'm at work Sunday-Tuesday with no chance of getting anything to sort it out and the only other colour mix I have in the house is green!!
Wish me luck!!

*edit*
Phew!! Not as bad as I thought....not quite what I was aiming for but I can live with it for a few days at least! Going to buy a Rubine or Rose Red when I'm off work on Wednesday and put it over the top to level it out a bit.

What's wrong with orange? My hair is orange right now and I'm getting loads of compliments.
Janine, probably a simple difference between "intentional and unintentional orange". ๐
(Just noticed your new avatar, and what an amazing colour and style, you really do suit it well!)
Petes_Dragon, glad it turned out tolerable... would love to see photos when you arrive at the colour you're happy with, good luck on Wednesday!
Yes, I know. Trying to put some perspective on it though. Intentional or unintentional, orange can look good. And it is mildly upsetting when someone is making it sound like the colour you have is the worst thing in the world. ๐ it's something I see daily here and it's not a great thing. We all need to be a little more careful in the way we word things.
(no real offence taken btw petes dragon, I know you didn't mean it like that)
Heehee Janine, I love Orange and it looks great on you. Welcome to the Orange gang! :p
That's it exactly - yours is a beautiful stunning vibrant proper orange and it looks awesome (definitely something I will go for at some point too!), mine is now a murky bleugh shade of orange, although it's not hideous it looks just a bit like a standard box colour so not really my style and definitely not what I was going for!
I'm back to hating it again this morning so will do a colour remover and pop a Rubine over the top on Wednesday and see how that turns out as I definitely prefer a more pinky base!

For future mixing exploits, remember that any combination that has all three primary colors will create brown tones. Orange and purple is why your hair looks murky rather than vibrant orange. (Both have red, and the orange added yellow, the purple added blue.) When i used to create natural colours from direct dyes, orangey reds with purple was one of my staples.
